Seems like a fair point to me and it can be how some users think. I might not do it, but it still an opinion.

Regarding Youtube, you can use sponsor block extension for nearly any browser to skip not only the youtube ads but also the integration ads inside videos. It does the job greadly!
Also you can use ublock origin for any browser to ignore and hide almost every kind of ads on websites too.
To download youtube videos you use either savefrom.net, or its browser extension or yt-dlp program.
As a good player I can recommend you foobar2000 because it is bloody fast and responsive even on playlists with thousants of tracks.
For a video player I cannot choose between vlc and podplayer because every of them has its unique features so i have two for convenience.
For file managing I use total commander which is even more bloody fast then foobar2000.
And yes, you can play music and videos with just one press of a key, either enter to open the file in the mighty foobar2000 which takes just half of a second or even quicker press f3 which stands for viewer and plays immediately. You even can setup automatic playing when you press ctrl+q and every file you focus is played until you press ctrl+q again or focus another file.
Yes, those are different apps and you need to get used to them before you use them so fastly and comfortably. But I am sure that we, blind people, have to, must to, odd to develop our skills and grab more and more and more knowledge about everything to just be able to be as cool and useful as sighted ones.
Yes, Elten was a great place to find someone new and interesting but in terms of self-development and skills Elten leads us to degradation and even more and more separation from sighted people.
-- (marchoffmann):
I guess often it's this long nostalgia, just the way one got to know people, or just how the interface looks, the sounds, etc etc. At least for me. Some random mainstream chat client is of course good in the way that everyone can use it but one like that would never make me have great memmories of it once, they can permenintly update them and make accessibility worse or add things noone cares, and I don't feel like going on a website with adds to browse youtube vids, nor do I feel like pasting an audio 5 times or more behind each other in goldwave to represent a playlist in a decent player, nor is explorer a good and fast file manager since all it does is lagging a lot, I could go on and on here. Of course it'll be easy for people who never got into this program so much. I've been here since 2021 but actively since 2022, and nearly every day. That does something. I'm not sure where I've mensioned this and if this post still exists, but in 2022 this forum was absolutely great. Nice conversations, too in the voice forum, it was easy to get intigrated and open up with even more private/emotional content which would now be impossible in 2024. Look into some older threads like intigration or some might be in others, but then yall will get it. Especially, the feeling lonely topic. A lot of those posts were very interesting to read, many were even helpful, now almost unimaginable too. So I think that, once this comunity would be fixed this could become a place where far more users would feel like enjoying, opening up, and inviting others to so we all can have a great time. If you think this program isn't good and want it to shut down, if you think about this like that for every program blind dudes make we'll soon have nothing. Of course it's a shame that sighted people won't be able to truely access this, it'd feel very interesting for me anyway, but I'm not a fan of discord and all those, especially the mobile app was really cool once, now it's nearly garbage. But I remember how many people got sad about klangos shut down. And then one day we'll have another client trying to concept clone elten. Nah, it's not how this needs to go. Well, that's my opinion at least, in the end what do I have to say.

I am very sorry that you have such an opinion.
The page is very big to navigate.
The city is too big for you to navigate too?
Websites to find a job, websites to communicate at work, websites to find information, they are too big too?
What the hell?!!
I use youtube website for 10 years and have no ever problem with it.
Yes, creators studio is a bit messy, it's true. But the website itself is fully accessible and understandable after 20 minutes of getting it used.
-- (Jonathan):
on iphone they completely messed up the friends section, also I don't want to use a browser just for youtube, because I can life with adds, but the page is in general big to navigate, and idk if this total commander can preview audios by just simply pressing space?

Btw Brave browser is not only to view Youtube and block ads.
It works almost like chrome and has the same accessibility features but it uses much less RAM, it blocks ads which really speed up your internet in terms of opening some large pages. I have tested it by slowing my connection to 256 kbps and testing in chrome and brave.
It also allows installing of all extensions from google extension store for chrome.
It keeps your privacy with you and unlike google does not share your ads identifier with every website to earn more and more money.
And btw it supports tor network out of the box.

Look, we don't need this here. You either want to use Elten, meet people on here, want to support it by buying the premium packages or not, no one is forced to stay here and it has never been said that anyone has to use it. We all know there are alternatives and probably most of us use them actively. What is this anti-elten sentiment meant to change?
#106 ArcticMoon
He is probably trying to make us understand that it's not worth bothering about the future of Elten. It is not worth waiting for months if the developer is clearly not interested in a community, but we simply have to go away and find something better, probably not decentralized that much. What are we waiting for? Are we going to spend years on our knees begging for something to happen?

Maybe because I do not understand these people who really spend money on Elten just to get features that are completely free on other platforms.
Maybe because I see how developers and admins just use this place to show their ambitions and love to swing their mighty banhammers, deleting posts, banning people.
Maybe because how hypocracy is everywhere on Elten, in the fact that piracy is disallowed as a topic but elten itself violates Youtube's rules, in the fact that elten administrator publicly declares his political position but warns others for opposite political statuses.
I just feel frustrated by the fact that all this is okay for most of you and you continue to stay here spending all your free time in another network which gives you nothing but single button interfaces and more ways to separate in your small blindy world instead of meeting new people and learning something new.
I just cannot stay silent seeing all of this.

-ctually, for once agree. As a person who has been here even before elten2 was officially released, it makes me really sad what has become of this place. A (ArcticMoon):

And at the same time these people would be the angriest if messenger or any of their favorite chatting apps became paid. Yet they calmly pay a foundation which does not even respect its own program and its users enough to remain at least politically silent. Guys, open up a bit to the world. Try new things and don't be afraid of change. Everyone understands that Elten won't be around forever, right? If this program goes away, what will be your favorite file manager? How will you download from youtube? And most importantly, how are you going to search for all this when the answer is practically falling into your lap here, in your little blindy corner?

Btw about Elten premium features, sorry but I still cannot calm down myself when I see this annoying unusable checkbox "use markdown".
Markdown parser is a python script with something less than 1000 lines of code.
Every forum, every big chat has this feature for free. This feature costs nothing for developers and you have to pay lots to use it.
About voice recognition I completely understand, this requires cpu or gpu power and is not so easy process.
For bigger files and longer voice messages i understand too. This also requires storage which is not free actually.
But markdown, those custom notifications, etc. Why they are payed? Looks like not a donation mechanics but rather kind of commercial stuff where some marketolog just finds another oportunity to take your money away from you for nothing.
More custom blogs is.... i don't know. looks like nothing but okay, it requires more place in database and more cpu and IO to process updates. Okay, I can understand that.
But again, markdown and paid notifications, ability to edit posts, some things with mentions as i remember....

You are a programmer, thus maybe you could answer me the following question. Is it really that impossible to hide non-functional checkboxes for those who didn't pay for such functions? Or is it also an experiment, like the more an user sees a non-functional feature, the more they want to buy and try?

They where hidden before, but pajpers statement was, he got the feedback more users wanted to see the functions they could have with premium. Hmm, never saw that request somewhere, surely somewhere in the void of these awesome polish community.

The ability to edit posts is free anyway, that's not paid.

Of course it is possible.
But who ever buys a feature if it is hidden?
If you see something every day you at some point want to know what it is, you read about markdown and want to use it.
And then when you are so wooooow so coool markdown! Then Elten asks some money for that and you of course consider paying for such a cool feature.
Marketing and nothing more.
This post was edited to test the edit feature.

Well, I have tested and yep, thanks god this is free.
Maybe it was made free as sound themes. But few years ago i remember that it was paid. For now yes its free, okay.

Oh and btw it is possible to make a checkbox to show or hide premium features.
For exploration they are good to be shown but for everyday usage they add more clutter to the interface.
But sorry but such a checkbox is more than a few lines of code and so more than a day for developers to spend.
So we probably will never see such a feature.
Of course if someone in polish community would request this then maaaybe.

Sound themes are also free now, thanks to some creators who got angry with Pajper monetizing their work. And they were right.

didn't knew their where paid. Its a shame.
But well, I bet these posts are also going to bee deleted since this is against pajpers logic, feelings, program, what ever.

I'm sorry but while I see those guys like you, who get an idea from someone or think about it yourself, and at the end of the day the project is almost done, I don't think a few lines of code takes more than a day to write.
