I would like to concede that one of the other chinese screen reader organizations apart from Zhengdu out there was labled as thieves as well by Nuno. So I'm not so sure if it's necessarily pro china for him.
I know, but this constant anti west labeling here is irritating. I would have no problem with Zhengdu if it would offer a perpetual licenses, plus their feature distribution across versions is unfair. Let's say, I'm an audio producer, and have no money to pay for the commercial version. With a free one I get no support for audio software. It's unfair. A basic support could be offered, without any problems. Plus, if we allow a subscription based screen reader, what will be next? Maybe subscription based breathing machines for people with such issues? I view it as an exploitation of our disability. Computers are powerful enough, and we have more than enough resources to make a completely free screen reader. Jaws will eventually be free, at least I think so. And the free jaws licenses in certain countries are possible because these countries pay upfront for them.
First of all, I didn't say about all other Chinese screenreaders that they're thieves. I have said so only about one particular company which is the Yongde screenreader. Both Sunshine and Baoyi are excellent product with their respective user bases. Second: I help people get Zhengdu and there are legal ways to obtain it for free, I tell you.

Stop arguing about politics here. Believe me, not because I can't do that. I study Political Science and International Relations. Neither liberalism or capitalism, nor communism or socialism is much more preferable than the other to me. Everyone has their own beliefs and opinions, and you may have those of your own, but just bear in mind that both are ideologies and both spread through large-scale propaganda and violence. So anti-Chinese or anti-communist propaganda is no different than anti-Western or anti-capitalist propaganda. Now let us return to what we should be discussing in this thread.
Where did you see anti chinese propaganda by me? I just gave my opinion about the constant labeling of nv access as Thieves. I demonstrated a free version of Zhengdu screen reader to a group of blind people at the blind association of my town, and everyone agreed that there should be some collaboration between them and nv access, if we want to make a true competitor to Jaws. That were about 20 people, and I don't believe that even 5 percent of them know about nv access and their funding strategy. Nuno, although you hate nv access, consider that such a collaboration might result in a very powerful screen reader which might be a true competitor to jaws. And collaboration doesn't mean stealing technology. Btw, how can you obtain free Zhengdu? The welfare one I got is so slow and poor in features.
Ok, no problem. Since Zhengdu has plugins, I believe that it could potentially make videogames accessible as well, if someone would design a plugin for it.
And actually, I think merging them would be a good idea. Unlicensed, it should be the wellfare one. Then, you have the option to buy the different editions within the program.
I'd love that. I see many similarities between ZDSR and nvda, that's why I proposed the possible collaboration. I think that both of them have some unique strengths.
One of the reasons why Zhengdu wouldn't become my primary at this stage too, is that it doesn't support my braille display. In private, I definitely prefer to use just speech, but at school, especially when we're reading a text together, each of us reading out loud a paragraph, I really want to be able to read, rather than repeating what the synth says. My braille display is a Helptech, formally Handy Tech, Active Star by the way. Another question is, what does Zhengdu use for braille translation?
My problem is not in connection with braille displays, but rather about its' narrator like wibes, and the fact that it's unable to read out special letters such as ones with acute.
Yeah, let's see. That's one of the reasons why I brought up the possibility of collaboration between nvda and Zhengdu developers. ZDSR could influence and enhance nvda with it's plug-ins, new screen capturing method etc, and the add-ons could be made compatible with both screen readers.
