Okay, I don't know Russian and even if I do, I don't know anything about the legal status of the add-ons they host, but nvda.ru is a nice site to get them all.

Well, I just went to my favourite site grossgang.com, and I found a dectalk py3 addon!

#164

Wow, many thanks...
Will check it out now.

Me too, this sounds interesting!

Except, I'm not sure where to look. There's a TTS section, seems likely, but not sure.

I found some Dectalk files, one is dectalk5.0.exe, which doesn't seem to do anything, and there's DECtalk 5.0 with 4.x sound.zip. Is this the one that needs to be changed into an NVDA add-on package by changing its extension? Lovely site, but no descriptions of anything there. I did find some more dectalk stuff, but I just don't know which one to try. I downloaded these two, since they had 2020 on their dates.

No no, tts is correct, then look under synthesizers for NVDA.

#169

I found the py3 and the py3 bundle, not sure which one to download. I still wish there could be descriptions.

Tried them both, and I suppose the bundle contains the version contained within the other add-on already. The bundle installs multiple versions at once.

Indeed, my thoughts exactly.

Probably with the bundle. I think I'll stick with the original.

There seems to be a bug in DECtalk. When I went back to it, the voice was really scratchy, so much so that I had to start up Narrator to help me set it up again. Switching voice to Beautiful Betty and back to Perfect Paul, for example, made it intelligible again.

I wonder if the bundle has this bug.

Well, subsequent changes back and forth, it works properly now, so I suppose it was a fluke. I reckon I'll keep it.

Strange Strange. Yep, descriptions was also something I was looking for when I encountered this site way back in 2014 or so. I'm sticking with the bundle, because I prefer dectalk 4.41. It's also neet for me to keep all those versions, so just dectalk 4.6 isn't what I want.

By the way, the owner of this site goes by on here as datajake 1999. He's not been online for some time though. I've got him on skype, maybe I can drop him a message if he's online.

I also had the same bug, but have not yet been able to fix it.
