Hello peoples! Hope all you guys are doing well.
Before I move forward with this post, I realize that this thread may be misleading, as there's already a thread with this game in place from the old english comunity. Since I can't post on that thread anymore, I figured I'd create a new one talking about the game instead.
Since I haven't been covering anything that's changed from versions 6.4 and onwards, I thought I'd shorten this next post from being too long, and only show what's new in the most recent version of the game.

Anyways, on with the post!

Taken from the audiogames.net forum.

I just released the next major update to simple fighter! Please check it out!
Before I continue, as per usual, I once again updated a bunch of sounds in the game. Please redownload the full game if you'd like to see the newe content I modified.
With that, here's what's new in version 7.0!
You can now build destroyable platforms and staircases in the builder menu. They will also be written to the map you're currently working on.
Fixed a bug where pressing shift plus tab in your inventory wouldn't wrap around back to the first or last item in the list.
Fixed a bug where shields weren't being reloaded propperly when using the /relshields command.
Resolved an issue where having no commands to view in the help menu would completely error out the entire game.
Made it so the game's settings will now be saved to the user's APPDATA folder under tsatria03/SimpleFighter/saves.
You can now finally restrict weapons and shields behind levels! The unlock level parameter found in each weapon and shield file was never used before in older versions of the game.
Added reflection mode to melee weapons for self-inflicted attacks.
Added a defense system to human enemies. The higher the defense they have, the lower the damage that gets delt by your weapons.
Completely removed the sounds downloader, as it wasn't working that well in certain cases.
Updated the todo list file with the newest features and bug fixes that should be added and or fixed in future versions of the game.
Updated the readme file with added and modified keyboard shortcuts.
Added the ability to define cooldown times to stacked commands. For example, you can do something like, /play radar.ogg;500speek This radar goes beap beap!
Added the ability to define cooldown times and speech flags for regularly used commands in the script keys file.
Added 3 new slash commands that can be used in the game. They are, /play, /speek, and /suicide.
Added command stacking support to script keys.
Added a slash command to quicly draw weapons of any type.
Added a slash command to reload all of your script keys. This is useful for when you add extra commands that can be triggered with the number row, and you want them to show up in the game.
Added the ability to use script keys. This file can be located in the data/references folder of the game.
Improved the command stacking behavior. You no longer need to put a trailing slash, or a space after the semi colon when typing the first command to start the stacking process.
Removed the entire game menu. This game will now be a pure map builder moving forward.
That's all for now. I hope you guys enjoy this update.
I realize it might not be that exciting, since most of this update involved fixing numeris bugs throughout the hole game. I tried to balance all of that out with some of the most requested features here and their.

Oh and one more thing. The sounds are now finally packaged with the game, wich means you no longer have to download them manually.

Hey people. I just released a quick bug fix and feature update for this game. Please check it out!

Here's what's new in version 7.1.

Completely revamped the maps folder. When you create a map, the game will now create a dedicated folder for that map, and generate it's own info file for it. Each map folder can also include up to 6 optional sounds for that particular map.

Added the ability to enable or disable using script keys by pressing the letter Y. This is useful in certain situations where you don't want to accidentally trigger one of the shortcuts while typing a command in the command console.

Added the ability to optionally asine a ping sound to all of the weapons that take ammo to signify that they have been reloaded successfully.

Introduced a new realistic weapon reloading system. Reloading a weapon will now take some time instead of instantly restoring ammo.

Added the ability to optionally asine drop and hit sounds to time bombs in the time bombs folder.

Resolved an issue where building a destroyable staircase would present dooplicated platforms in the object info menu.

Added destroyable platforms and staircases to the object info menu.

Fixed some bugs with heal zones, and added some sounds to each character for when it's health gets reduced.

Fixed a bug where you were able to use stacked commands without having to put a slash at the beginning of the first command.

Fixed some bugs with the reflection mode for bullets.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more features to come!

I don't fully understand all the game's possibilities yet, but I'm currently working on a small challenge map and I'm really enjoying the game so far. I've always wanted NPCs on maps in SBYW. Here are a few bugs I've noticed so far: I can post them on GitHub again if necessary.

* If you die and answer 'yes' to the question about trying again, you sometimes end up in the middle of nowhere and can no longer move. You then have to reload the map for everything to work again. Objects and NPCs also sometimes disappear. You then find yourself running around on an empty map.
* If you have set a spawn point, the player is constantly thrown back to it after editing a line or adding new elements. Ideally, the game would remember the player's progress when reloading the map and only take the spawn point into account when loading the map for the first time.

That's all for now. Hopefully there will soon be a way to share your own maps. Keep up the good work!

So I tried to download the sounds from dropbox, but the files are deleted. Is this meant to be the case?

#7

The sounds actually come with the game. I deleted them from drop box for a reason.

Thanks so much. First of all, the mechanics for you dying has been done on perpose. What I mean is, if I didn't destroy nearly everything upon death, that would mean any entity that attacks you will continue to do so, and therefore keep triggering the death sequence.
Second, I completely see where you're coming from with spawn points. I notice that on sbyw, they are only effective when the map reloads, but the thing is. When you build, add, edit, and or remove map data in my game, the map ends up getting reloaded anyway.

Hello everyone! I just released a huge bug fix and feature update to this game! Please check it out!

Here's what's new in version 7.2.

Added an inventory menu to make finding and using items a bit easier. You can press the letter I to open it. This replaces the old categorized healing items system.

Made it so normal items are now part of all created maps. You can find them in the objects folder under the assets directory.

Reverted the map folder found in the assets directory for all maps. The 6 optional sounds related to the map will now go back in the misc folder, found in the built in global sound pack.

Made it so most of the map related slash commands will now be disabled when the map is compiled.

Fixed a bug where loading a compiled map would cause the decompiled version of the map to be loaded instead of the correct one.

Added the ability to compile your maps for shairing purposes. These maps can be playable in the compiled maps menu.

Enhanced the map template creator. The game will now generate a complete map template for you when creating a new map. This includes an assets folder where users can easily add their own sounds to the map. A confirmation message will also be shown to let the user know that the template has been created, and is ready for customization.

Expanded the per-map structure for sounds. In addition to each map having its own dedicated info.map file, and up to 6 optional map-specific sounds, the dialogs, musics, npc, objects, and source directories are now map-based as well. The global sound folders for characters, equipments, keyboards, menus, and misc remain unchanged, and will now be shared across all maps.

Removed the ability to equip categorized healing items in the game when pressing the letter I.

Fixed a bug where changing an ammo-based weapon during a reload would transfer out extra ammo, causing the new weapon to exceed its maximum ammo limit.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more awesome features to come!

Great update! However the new organisation of sounds makes creating maps slightly inconvenient. It would be good to have a folder as before with default sounds that all maps can use, and an optional map-specific asset structure to look for custom sounds. This would save storage space and make it easier to find files. I suppose this is not possible though? There is still a crash when creating walls and platforms, which I have already reported on GitHub.

When you usually create platforms and walls, it will say something like, Error, there are no platforms or walls to view if there's none..

Wait what do you mean putting the default sounds back?

I apologise if I have not expressed myself clearly. In version 7.2, the Sounds folder only contains the following subfolders: Characters, Equipments, Keyboards, Menus and Misc.
All other folders are now part of the individual maps, i.e. dialogs, Musics, NPC, Objects and Sources. I tried copying these files back to their old location, but this doesn't work. Ideally, it would still be possible to store all sounds in the global Sounds/Default folder so that they are automatically available in all maps. Each map could still have its own assets folder and use custom sounds. This would avoid the need to copy frequently used sounds for each map individually.

I just managed to fix this huge bug. I have no idea how I didn't see this prior to releasing 7.2. My bad on that one.

I completely see where you're getting at. However, the reason why I did that to begin with is because I didn't want the global sounds folder taking up so much space. I don't know if there's a non destructive way of making both options possible, fallback or otherwise. Not that it's impossible to look into regardless.

@radiorobbe, I managed to implement your suggestion. It will be available in version 7.3.

Hello everyone! I just released another huge bug fix and feature update to this game! Please check it out!

Here's what's new in version 7.3. Please make sure to redownload your sounds for this game, as I've added some new ones, especially for this update.

Fixed some landing related issues with aircrafts.

You can now build aircrafts in the builder menu. They will also be written to the map you're currently working on, along with appearing in the object info menu, and the spire.

Made it so the keys for teleporting to random x and y coordinates will now be disabled when the map is compiled.

Fixed some inventory related bugs.

Updated the readme file with removed keyboard shortcuts.

Added the ability to drop an item right from the inventory menu. You can press the delete or backspace keys to do this.

Made it so when you select an item in the inventory menu, it no longer gets automaticly used. Instead, it will now directly take you to the item so you can quicly use it.

Added the ability to put map-based sounds in 2 separate locations. Not only they can go in the assets folder of the map, but they can also be coppied back to the global sounds folder as well. This is so the compiled map file doesn't become large enough to lag out the entire game when playing it.

Fixed a critical runtime bug with building objects that show a sound selection menu.

Made it so cycle inventory sounds play in 2d for all characters.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more awesome features to come!

Thanks for the update!

I'm attaching my playground map I've been working on intermittently over the last few weeks. It's nothing special, but it was enjoyable to experiment with a few things. If you're interested in my chaotic building style, feel free to decompile the map – it's not encrypted.
