Hey peeps. I just released another quick bug fix and feature update to this game. This time, it involves the aircraft system.

Here's what's new in version 7.4. As I always say, please make sure to redownload all of your sounds for this game so you can get the latest content that I added and or modified.

You can now build aircraft turbulences in the builder menu. They will also be written to the map you're currently working on.

Fixed an issue where building an aircraft beacon would cause it's accompanying sound to not be audible upon engaging the plain's landing gear.

You can now build aircraft beacons in the builder menu. They will also be written to the map you're currently working on.

Added some loop sounds for grounded aircrafts.

Added some more aircraft packs to the aircrafts folder.

Made it so npcs don't hit you while you are on an aircraft.

Fixed a bug where bullets fired by a weapon would come back to hit you while you were on an aircraft.

Increased the maximum movement speed for aircrafts from 10 to 20.

Fixed a bug where the landing beacon sound would get stuck upon player death when you were on an aircraft.

Made it so crashing your aircraft will now cause you to die instently, do to a failed landing.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more awesome features to come!

Hello everyone! I just released another huge bug fix and feature update to the game! Please check it out!

Before I continue with todays changes, I'd like to let you all know that I decided to create a separate downloadable file that contains map based sounds for the game. They can either go in the normal sounds folder, or in any of the map folders that you can create from the map menu.

Without further to do, here's what's new from versions 7.5 to 7.7. Note: this update contains several of the changes related to the game's updater that was found in my Toy Mania game.

Fixed an issue for mac devices where the updater would download the update file, along with copying the download link to the clipboard. From now on, the clipboard action will only be performed to prevent redundant or inaccessible downloads inside the game's mac bundle.

Improved the updater for mac devices. If an update is available for that platform, users are now prompted to manually download the update in their browser. The download link is automatically copied to their clipboard for convenience, making it easier for them to quickly paste it for downloading.

Made it so mac and windows update files get deleted properly upon successful extraction.

Added fallback behavior for failed update extractions. If an update extraction fails, the game will now provide clearer feedback and avoids restarting or exiting abruptly, allowing users to try again without potential data loss.

Added write-permission checks before downloading updates. If the game is running from a protected location like Program Files, users will now be prompted to download the update to their Downloads folder instead.

Made it so the updater now adjusts where updates are saved depending on the game version and platform. For installed Windows versions, installer and portable updates are redirected to the user's Downloads folder if the game lacks write permissions. Portable Windows downloads save updates directly to the game directory, while Mac updates are always saved to the user's Downloads folder.

Made it so users are notified to manually run the new version of the game upon successful extraction.

Improved platform detection to handle Windows and Mac update downloads separately and more reliably.

Added a prompt to delete update archives or installers after a successful update, helping keep the overall game folder clean.

Repackaged update archives to extract directly into the game's directory, removing unnecessary subfolders for a smoother update experience.

Added support for extracting password-protected 7z update files in the game updater. This allows seamless in-game installation of encrypted update archives using a well-known password found in the file.

Made it so the updater now checks if the update file already exists locally, and skips the download if it finds one.

Added overwrite confirmation prompts after extracting downloaded archives to prevent unintentional file loss.

Introduced automatic extraction of downloaded 7z updates. This is only for Windows users. Mac users are instructed to manually extract the updates, do to automated extraction not being possible on those devices.

Addressed a critical issue with the game updater where downloaded update files appeared corrupted, or were only a few bytes in size. This was caused by an incorrect GitHub release tag format in the update URL. The updater now automatically appends a trailing zero to version numbers to match GitHub's expected release tag structure, ensuring downloads are valid and uncorrupted.

Improved the auto updater. From now on, it will check for updates in the backround at startup, instead of always telling the user that no updates are found upon launching the game every time.

Added support for automatic update checking on game launch. If the option is enabled in the game settings menu, the game will now check for the latest version online and prompt the user to update it if it's available.

Implemented an automatic version checker that compares your local game version against the latest version available online.

Introduced a built-in update downloader that retrieves the correct update based on your platform (Windows or Mac) and package type (installer or portable), with progress tracking, error handling, and cleanup of incomplete files.

Added a “Check for Game Updates” option to the main menu, allowing players to easily check for and download the latest version of the game.

Added the ability to turn switches on and off. The switch's loop sound will start and stop the more you flick it. It will also tell you if it's on or not.

Switches can now be seen with the spire. When you use the spire on one of them, it will tell you weather it's active or not.

You can now build basic switches in the builder menu. They will also be written to the map you're currently working on.

Added an option to toggle auto running when the player moves on a map. You can find this in the settings menu. The default behavior is holding down the alt key to run, and releasing that same key to walk.

Made it so spawnpoints are now only effective upon reloading the map by the user. It will also take effect when going into travelpoints that have them, and pasting your map data from the clipboard.

Updated the todo list file with the latest bug fix and feature improvements made to the game.

Updated the readme file with modified and removed keyboard shortcuts.

Made it so you no longer need to turn auto walking on or off with the letter X key. You can now press the arrow keys to move a lot quicker, or you can hold those keys to do the same thing.

Fixed a bug where tile sounds weren't playing propperly when you were focused on the surfaces list in the reverb builder.

Made it so pressing the letter C key to speak your coordinates is now less verbose when you're on an aircraft.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for more awesome features to come!

Here are the download links as usual. This game is now available to play on the mac as well.

Could you add the option to sheath/holster the currandly held weapon? It would add many more possibilities to the game, for example you can only open doors or enter a vehicle when your weapon is sheathed.

That's a good idea. I'll add that in the next version.

I'll also make it so you have to sit for certain weapons.

Hey peiple. I just released another bug fix update to SimpleFighter. Please check it out.

As I always say, I recommend redownloading all of your sounds for the game so you get all of the newest content I've added and or modified. I unfortunately wasn't able to pack the sounds into the archive, even with solid compression. It ended up surpassing the 1gb limmit for github releases and itch.io.

I ended up putting 2 seprate archives for these sounds. One archive holds sounds related to playing maps, and the other one holds sounds related to the main interface.

Here's what's new in version 7.8.

Updated the readme file with addede keyboard shortcuts.

Removed the ability to build aircraft turbulences, as they weren't working that wellin certain cases.

You can now build vanishing hazards in the builder menu. They will also be written to the map you're currently working on.

Added the ability to create selection points with the camera. You can press the letters J, L, K, and I while holding down the letter G key to do this.

Added a prompt to the switch builder that let's you control the active state of it when building it in the builder menu.

Added the ability to add, edit, and view the entire contents of the layouts folder in the miscellaneous menu.

You can now hide the miscellaneous menu from appearing in the settings menu.

Added a miscellaneous menu into the game's main menu. This menu will contain various options that the user can experiment with in their free time.

Brought back the layouts folder for storing various information about characters, shields, and weapons. The info.sif files will no longer be shown inside each of the character, shield, and weapon folders from now on.

Made it so aircrafts are no longer effected by ground hazards.

That's all for today. Stay tuned for more updates to come!

Ngl you need an auto updater for all of this. The game kinda becomes unatracting for me knowing that if I install it and get it working, 2 days later you'll push another update and that's gonna have all this stuff again. Download update, soundfile 1, soundfile2, etc.

I think an website for the game is also a good idea because auto updater will can be easy set up

#31 Edited

I already have an auto updater for the game. The only thing I wasn't quite sure about was the sounds. Some people want all of them to be archived with the entire game, while others don't for storage reasons.

You could add two options in the auto updater, one with the sounds and one with out them.

People don't complain about video games storage wise...

Besides, it doesn't make much sense to compare that anyway. It would be as if you'd compare the contribution from people to open source projects from sighted compared to those from the blind...

Why is blind code different than sighted? LOL

I'm guilty of still using bgt_compat to this day. It's kind of hard not to when your first game was built around it before nvgt became a thing. I started getting a lot better about it though in the games I decided to release later on.

The last few posts in here are brainrot Jeez. @Devil, today is the day I finally try this game.
