Zoom Conferencing Software

Hey all,
Who here uses Zoom? If you don't know what Zoom is, Zoom allows people to host meetings. It is accessible with screen readers. It is free to use if you and one other person are in a call. If you have a free account and you have a big group in a call, you can only talk for 40 minuts. You can even share your computer's audio using Zoom. I like that. At least with Zoom if you share your audio, it doesn't cut out like Skype. Zoom also has stereo support.
If you want to learn more about Zoom, go to: www.zoom.us.

Can you also use it outside of the United States?
#3 radio729
I think so, yes.

How does the audio quality compare to teamtalk?
#5 radio729
The audio quality is not as high as on TeamTalk but it's still good. Of course, it will depend on the persons internet connection.

hi. i am using zoom and its very great. i can use it in germany, so its not only availlable in the U S A.

Hi!
Yesterday, I had my first participation in a Zoom conference meeting and it was really exciting! It just works exellent with the NVDA screen reader. The quality is really good; of course, not only depending from your Internet connection but also from the type of microphone you are using.

Recently, you may have heard that Zoom was haveing some security issues so they updated the clients with some new security settings. Now if you join a meeting and you are the host, you must allow the other people to join the meeting. You do this by going to the participants list. The reason you have to do this is because the Waiting Room is enabled by default. Also if you are the host, you have to give others permission to record. I think Zoom did a great job with security.

You can, as a host, disable the waiting room. I've disabled it for meetings.

I recently discovered that when updating Zoom on Windows, you can't get to the update button in the update dialog using NVDA but you can get to it using Narrator.

I went there to update, was told there's a new version, and the next press of the tab key brought me the update button, so no problems here with NVDA and updating Zoom.
#14 railwayguy
Yes the same here. Besides, if you don't update right away, Zoom does it automatically, anyway.
#15 radio729
That is odd. I can't get to the update button by tabbing for some reason.
#16 railwayguy
You have to tab until you find your own name. Then, when you arrow down, you have several options including, "Check for updates". Be sure that the Hometab is checked.
#17 thespyde
I didn't even have to do that, it was already in the tab order.
#18 Urh2006
yes, and it automaticly prompted me for update, i didn't have to do anything.

If it's actual for someone, I'm sharing the information: in zoom, go to settings>audio>advanced, and find something similar like "enable original sound" or "show original sound", then in a meeting you'll find button "turn on original sound". By pressing this you get excelent sound quality (of course it depends of your hardware :D), but sounds really better.
