Hello. Well, I was a hard jaws fan for, um maybe 5 or 6 years. And then I got this beautiful Dell laptop that I really hate, and the soundcard and jaws weren't best friends, seriously. And then my friend introduced me to NVDA, she has been using it for a lot of time already, so I thought why not to try it. Since then I even couldn't get back to jaws, even if my soundcard wouldn't scratch all the time... Although it was installed before, but I used it only if NVDA got frozen or when I had to uninstall MCAfee LOL so yeah, NVDA has improved a lot, and I like it much better than jaws. The voices aren't the best though, I don't really like espeak, and vocalizer sometimes does weird glitches if I use it. Poor Mariska... :D But as I've recently started to mess around with russian language on duolingo, I need some parts of the vocalizer, and it's also really easy to handle with NVDA. So yeah, NVDA forever :D

You can use eloquence for NVDA, if you want I can send it to you.

Yep, I have Eloquence too, with auto-language support and such. I don't know how much longer it will work, since Python is soon to be updated, or maybe has. Some add-ons are going to have to be seriously updated when that fully takes off. Some add-ons have already updated to facilitate the newest Python, but since this Eloquence is, um, not recognized, then I doubt it will be updated. I tried getting in touch with the person who did this add-on but he isn't the best in social stuff, so no word from him.

I just won't update, 19.2 is fine for me.

Uh, Eloquence is another synth that I hate with a passion LOL

It's better than glitchy vocalizer at any rate. The way it works, basically vocalizer requires some microsoft c redistributable to function, and because it's more heigh quality it taxes the CPU way more than espeak or eloquence does.

#107

They did release an eloquence python 3 version, and it can be found at jeff's addon repository. If you're using the grossgang ddriver though, or even colton Hill's ultra eloquence, I can understand why you don't like updating.

#108

It's not glitchy, I mean Eloquence, but I just don't like the way it sounds... Although espeak isn't better either, I still use it though...

I agree to last author, Eloquence is specific. That's why I use another voices.
All the best, Danil.

Eloquence is SO much smoother than ESpeak, but only my opinion for sure, well, anyone who agrees too, but yeah.

As to the poster who said they won't update NVDA, that may only work for awhile, but whatever, bro.

I wonder what Eloquence I'm using. I'm not geeky enough to know I reckon. This one is so smooth, at least in English. I notice, on my wife's German computer, there are clicks and pops I don't usually hear on mine.

Maybe it is smooth, but it sounds like a robotic screenreader from the 80s.

Even though it came out in 2002! Or at least version 6.1, which is the version we all know.

#113

I would disagree somewhat. Elequence to me doesn't sound that robotic at all. ESpeak is more robotic in my opinion, smiles. I'm stil a fan of jaws. Unfortunately, the versions of jaws I've tried don't work at all on my computer, otherwise I would use it as a demo. My version of eluquence comes from jeff's website, so hopefully it will stil be useable for a long time.

I do know I'm not using the ultra Eloquence, other than that I don't know. The Clat, or Klat-base synthesizer doesn't sound near as robotic as ESpeak in my opinion. It is eighties tech, but still better, still my opinion, than the more modern stuff.

If you download the speech player NVDA addon the espeak voices sound better.

#116

I tried that one and I don't see any difference.

Ah well, to each his own.

#117

If you use clat there is a difference from what I can tell.

#118

Yes it's true, but Eloquence is different yet again. I like dectalk better though because of its intonation. In fact, the first time I heard it in Window Eyes 7.5.4, I didn't believe it was a synth. I thought it was a human speaking through a walkie-talkie!

#119

ESpeak isn't Klat or however that's spelled. It should sound better but it doesn't. It's harsh to my ears. It has samples of human speech recorded in it but Eloquence just sounds easier on the ears. Any-who, ...

NVDA still rocks, smiles.

It's not only Klatt. There are other voices which sound a bit better than Klatt.
