Well guys, this is it. Skype is being killed off on May 5, and is suggesting people migrate to the personal version of Teams.
Here's an article from Tech Crunch regarding Skype's shutdown: https://techcrunch.com/2025/02/28/microsoft-hangs-up-on-skype-service-to-shut-down-may-5-2025/

I still like Skype, oh well.

Same. Sad to see it gone. I've been using Skype since when I was 10 years old and it's been my Longest est social network programming I ever had.
I'm not happy about that.

Skype was part of a era. I stil remember when the old msn messenger was around it was fun. Then skype took over from that. Now it's the turn of skype. So things come and things go. Then new social networks replace them. It can be sad, but that's how it goes at times.

Yes true, if someone is using Skype previously, they have to get used to using teams.

Well, another milestone is gone. A little bit sad to hear but time is going on and everything is changing. Personally, i don't use skype regularly since 2015, though there were couple of times when i had to use it in 2016 and somewhere between 2019 and 2022. It wasn't so popular in the last decade and there were reasons for that. It wasn't very stable but i still liked the quality of sound. In terms of tone it was more studio like and much better than WhatsApp or telegram.

Damn, well at least I'm on Teams, as well as others like Telegram, WhatsApp, iMessage and Discord.

Totally agree!
It was an era, yes. There were problems, of course, but I still have a bunch of good emotions about that time.

I used it from 2013 to 2018. It was good time, but there's a lot of better things than Skype now, so it doesn't matter for me.
When Microsoft switched us to Skype 8 it started to being not usable like previous, so i stopped using it.

I have no problems with Skype 8. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

in light of all this happening, I created a skype soundtheme.
Also your not fully out of luck, as escargot is also working on a service that is providing patched clients for not only MSN messenger. but also versions of skype such as skype 8.

While skype was good in the old days, there is honestly no point for it to stick around anymore. If you think about it, teams is basically the equivalent, and skype is just an old, outdated version of it. I know a lot of people liked using it. I was the same way until I realized there were better communication applications out there. The one reason i will miss it is because that was the platform where I first interacted with the blind community.

I miss Skype for its ease of use. Getting ANYTHING done in Teams is a nightmare!
One has to invite someone, even someone who was already a contact in Skype, to a chat before you can interact with them. After that, I don't have a clue how to add him or her to my contacts.
I, MISS, SKYPE!

I personally don't really like teams because I have a really hard time navigating in it. Skype was super easy to use. However, I started using discord more and it's even better than skype in my opinion

I tried a few times to get on Discord but could never manage it.
