Skype is shutting down in May

I miss Skype as well, that's how I first met the blind community and some youtubers that I want to become friends with.
Also I use discord as well and I have nothing wrong with using it in my opinion.

I have always loved using discord. It has always been a reliable platform for me.

Cool, for the ones who can access Discord. I thought one had to be on servers for that. I still miss Skype and the free use of pier-to-pier.
Rock on, y'all!
#24 Irroadium
No, you don't have to use servers. You can also send direct messages or call users
#25 thespyde
Okay, I'll look into it again. I probably won't have any success but I'll look.
#26 thespyde
I couldn't get past the stupid CAPTCHA, even after signing up for hCaptcha. It's too hard for old fogies like I am.
#27 Irroadium
I know what you mean, but there's a way to get a text CAPTCHA. I'll find out how that works
#28 thespyde
Skype was SO much easier to sign up for, just sayin'.
#29 Irroadium
That's true, but discord has a lot more functions. Another problem with skype was that it didn't always send all notifications
#30 thespyde
I never had that problem.
#31 GeorgeWu
I like using discord. Using discord since 2020.

Well, goodbye Skype, even though I never used it, neither did i use Teams. No need for it. Why if you have Discord, What's App and Telegram? Perhaps for mettings it's cool but again, I don't need it right now.
@21, assuming famous YouTubers (at least these with hundreds of thousands subscribers or perhaps more) actually have enough time to answer to everyone wanting to be their friends - which are a lot - is a quite silly thought process.
@thespyde: Servers - those which actually mostly are in data centers and designed so as to have 99+% uptime - and Discord servers are a difference. Discord allows you to make servers freely. You then can create channels - such as text and voice - and have very much customizable things. Unfortunately, the captcha is quite difficult to get around, and you have to get used to using it, but it's by no means bad at all.
