An official Statement and discussion about the moderation status and the group future

Well at least I have one person that supports my idea. Thank you so much fire for showing your support for this. I have always followed the rules and I will continue to do so.
You know, I just had a thought.
I think part of the reason that there is so much drama in this groups as well as some other groups might have something to do with the huge varieties of different Cultures that come from different countries. Some countries like Canada are more known for being kind and polite to people. Others are more known for being serious. On the other hand, it also would have something to do with the family background of the individual. Some were raised to expect perfection and if even one small thing is unimpressive for that person, they will speak their mind and are not afraid to do so.
Is that sort of how you look at this as a group. I thought we are supposed to except all Cultures in every shape or form. I don't think this is what is happening.
Maybe we all need to learn about each others Culture and how it effects other people from different Cultures.
What are your thoughts about that

And it's not the only problem. Until people can freely leave the group after posting something for what they might get a ban, it's awfully difficult to finally get someone and throw them out of here. I was really burned out, I'm not going to deny. Because there weren't enough tools in our hands to act against such people. It's almost impossible to moderate this platform when people can just go and create another account with a throwaway email. I feel like what the moderators are doing is good for showing that they are doing something, but it isn't effective. And it's not their fault. They are just doing their job but the platform itself makes it more difficult to do it properly.

But in all honesty who in a healthy state of mind would even dare to moderate this place after all the shit that has happened?
#44 ArcticMoon
Well, seems like Charlie. :D

Where did I say that?
#46 ArcticMoon
Umm in like two of your topics in which you applied? Having a memory leak is not that great.
#47 Sir-Charlie
All right, provide the quote where I said I want to administrate this since after the last election.

I will be more than happy to be a moderator of the elten English community. what's your username so that I can PM you? just a note, I use the web client, so I will need permission to kick or ban users on the web client.
#49 GeorgeWu
Looks like you registered on Elton since March of this year, try to contact daszekmdn If you want to moderate this group.
#50 adisonverlice2
is that his elten username? if so, we'll do
#51 adisonverlice2
done. also, I still cair about elten and its future. I have moderated some stuff before, so I have a little bit of experience with moderation on platforms
#52 daszekmdn
Unfortunately web client don't offer any moderation tools.

I think this new person, might just be an old account. I might be wrong. Also it seems to me, that we'll just go round in circles because, people are unable to agree on anything or get on with each other, or don't want to get on with each other. This makes it difficult to find any solution. Because whatever you do, there will always be someone who won't like it. But lets wait and see...
#54 adisonverlice2
yes, you're right. I lost the password to y old account, so I made this new1. the server that stored my passwords for my accounts is lost. I do have a backup of it, and I need to get that working at some point. also come on, dod. I mean, I get it, your main client is windows, but really? why abandon the web client from moderation tools? come on, dood. that should be fixed.
#55 ArcticMoon
I don't think a person who doesn't understand what counts as a username should be a moderator, but that's only my humble opinion
#56 adisonverlice2
i'm sure someone like me chairs. also, no, I'm not very well known in the forums. but I am known in some parts of the elten English community from conferences.
I mean, come on, dood. discord has a web client, and they have moderation features right in the client, in fact, they have all of their moderation features in their web client, yet still have voice conferencing, channels and DMs, and servers . elten should be able to achieve the same goles, as they don't have servers (though they do have forums and blogs), and messages and calls. the same things can be done for the web client.
I see no issue in implementing that, that sounds like something a good dev like pajper should be able to do.
most of all, though, they should be able to do moderation features. again, with discord, o and even element, despite how hard that shit is to setup, also, guess what? has moderation features in their web client. why doesn't elten?
again, if nothing else, the dev or devs should be able to get moderation features inside the web client. I would think it'd be as simple as some more APIs, and maybe a little of HTML so they can work properly.
how hard is it for a dev to do that? esspecially if you're using something like JavaScript, because every website in the world it seams uses it.
I know i've gon on long, but someone should here me out.

It's really hard. It was discussed on PL Elten community few times and current status i that Web client is abandoned due too much work which's needed to fix it. Remember that only one person work on the app, who also have foundation etc so can't do everything ;). Currently he working on new Windows client version and messages client for mobile devices.
#58 khalil2009
dood who gives a shit tbh. discord has more than 1000000 users and elten has a very limited user base. and most of those people use the desktop version. alsow I know you have a computer, so why not just download the app
#59 daszekmdn
Remember that the thread isn't about it so stop this nosense discussion.

Please? That word can be very helpful if you want so from the users. I promise. Otherwise yu may look who an admin who just gives orders.
Also it's d, u, d, e.
Well, a mobile web client and the desktop client are apparently already enough to stop the development, or at least make it so slow that only every months a new version will be released. I don't want to imagine what happens if he is going to care about the web client now, as well.
