An official Statement and discussion about the moderation status and the group future
Back to Archive of group related things discussions#1 daszekmdn
Hey all.
It took me a very long time to decide to write this statement, but things can no longer go like this.
Currently, we have 3 moderators for all this mess. It's really not enough.
The first moderator (Arctic moon) left our team without any discussion or consultation with the rest of us.
She just left the group and then started to criticise everything which we doing despite the fact that she herself supported us at our decisions when was in the team.
She was replaced by Paulinux.
She's really good moderator and I have very good memories of our cooperation in the Polish community. She have really big experience beyond just moderating the Elten link platform, because she contributes and engaging to many other interesting projects and have also big experience in working in teams.
Behind the small projects she also work in one of companies and make studies, so don't have too much time to do here something innowative. Because of this, she unfortunately want to resign.
DJSenter also wanna leave moderation, because of burnout and the community's constant problematic reactions to any of our decisions.
It's look like i will be alone.
Noone, who would be suitable sent me the cv when i announced the recruitment.
So I renew the announcement!
If there's anyone, who like me, wants to save this sinking ship, and care about the English Elten community, please send me PM.
If no one is found by the end of the month, sorry, sad to say, but i will have to say goodbye.
The forum is too large to be moderated by one person only.
I had a lot of ideas how to moderate and change this community, but life werified verything.
With greetings:
Your administrator.
I keep this thread open to discuss but please, really without any unnecessary drama.
Because that's my statement i not gave it previously to the moderation team to check eventual mistakes, so sorry if i wrote something incorrectly or made any grammar mistakes.

I can't say I blame you for stepping down. Admittedly, I certainly haven't made things any easier with moderatio at times, for which I will extend my most sincere apologies. Had I more experience in moderation and less of a temper, I would step forward to give aid. Alass, I do not, and quite frankly I don't think I'd make a very good mod given my track record in this group. I wish you all the best of luck though. Hopefully, someone can be found who will be able to give aid and not be a literal ass hat.

Have my respect Daszek. It's more than possible I left in a harsh way, but the problem wasn't with you, but with the direction Elten is turning to. It'll be easier if you don't need to watch the fire burning every day. This community has turned into a toxic kindergarden and it's not accidental that I'm also isolating myself from here as much as possible. I'm having other projects, for example working on the hungarian RHVoice with a small team of coders, plus I'm in a period of life when I must decide in very serious situations.
So yeah. Take your time, concentrate on things you really like doing. But I hope we'll still hear from you :)

And what will happen if you will leave? Will you just leave and someone's random is gonna be selcted to be admin? Will you delete this group? Will you just ignore this community?

To be honest I really don't know. We can make a new election, but... Does it have any sense?
Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.
#6 pajper
By now, most people of English Community have actually left. What remained are mainly spammers or users being here only to blame others, Arctic for example.
I know there are exceptions, but I don't know if they are numerous enough for the fight for the English community to make any sense.
Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

I saw this kind of posts more than enough and I understand that it might be hard for the mods to handle all this. So pajper, you are completely true when you say that most of us are spammers, I can't even say that I'm not. But I hope that Elten English Community will not be deleted, because that would probably cause the death of Elten.
#8 pajper
In fact we have very active polish community. But english one is indeed a pity.
Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.
#9 fire
@9 I agree. it might cause elten to just, die out of english users
#10 ArcticMoon
Elten wasn't made for the english audience. It was at first created for polish seniors who have problems using different programs for all the different things. And it should've staid like that, as we are seeing the english community at the moment.
#11 Sir-Charlie
Yes, mostly dead for the past few months aside for you attempting to stir the pot ever so often.
Which leads me to the main question, how does one experience burnout from a mostly inactive forum anyway?
#12 Urh2006
I see no point for maintaining the english community except keeping it for archive purposes.
#13 Jokyboy129
My idea would be to create a "english tech community" and delete everything else because it's just trolling and spamming and toxic bullshit (sorry if I say that, but it is so).
#14 balteam
That's a quite interesting idea, we will have more english groups, if we have some new great groups they could be as recommended groups. In few days Daszekmdn won't be an admin and probably it's not a good idea to have a group without mods.
#15 GeorgeWu
If the English community group is gone, that will be very sad. I hope this won't happen.
#16 radiorobbe
Yes it would be sad, but perhaps the recommended groups system generally needs to be reconsidered. Unless there is a way to manage these groups in the same way as private groups, no one will want to maintain an open forum for all kinds of topics, which is often misused as a playground for underchallenged children and teenagers. It seems that most people are looking for topic-specific groups anyway. The list of recently active groups includes communities that deal with technology or games. I don't know how peaceful it is there, though.
Keiner ist unnütz. Er kann immer noch als schlechtes Beispiel dienen!
#17 Louisa
I was under the impression, that elten was sort of created as a klango replacement. For everyone. And not just for Polish people.
Perhaps it would be better, if people went their ceperate ways, and created their own private groups. Then perhaps there won't be any problems. At least I hope not.
#18 Aidenn
yeah. there is a milion forums out there now
#19 fire
if there was no admin this group would go insane
#20 Louisa
It's already going insane. Not much difference. Unfortunately.
