I found it. Charles' suggestion of the bracket is indeed correct but you have to do left bracket before playing if in the beginning, then left bracket where you want to stop, then stop the playing, then delete.

There's a programe that we didn't talk about, it's gold wave. I found that I can do everything I can't do with audacity. To tsunami, there's a free version of it. You should google it because I don't have the link at the moment, but it's very good, and there are good ttutorials
