Which national anthems do you like the best?

The Russian and Belarusian anthems are the most favorite for me. From the anthems of other countries, Nepal has a pretty interesting anthem that sounds pretty cool in my opinion. I also like the anthems of Cambodia, Slovakia and Mongolia. Yes, an interesting set. :D

What? Even the current officially accepted composition is problematic. The lyrics are great though. İstiklal Marşı (the Independence Anthem) was already first written as a poem and then in 1924 it was officially begun to be sung with the first official composition, which is quite different from the current one.

i like the turkish one but if it's played in jazz

Interesting topic. Personally I find the anthem of my own country, Trinidad and Tobago to be pretty boring under most arrangements I've heard them, but if done correctly it sounds quite nice. Alot of places in the Caribbean have really beautiful anthems as well. Antigua as Marc said, Jamaica's ispretty nice, and St Vincent's is really great. Poland's anthem is really fitting considering her history. As for the US Canadia and Britain? I feel like they're overrated. Of the 3 the US s my favourite while the British is my least favourite. The Japanese one is funny. It basically goes, "Let therule o the Emperor last a thousand, no, 8 thousand years!" And then there's the orchestral masterpiece that is the Brazilian anthem. I could march to my death while the company's band bang that out honestly. There's the national anthem of Fascist Spain, pretty cool as well. And while we in the West memed the living hell out of the Soviet Union's you can't deny the "Commys" made a pretty good anthem.

Last night I grabbed the MIDI files off of my first thumb drive. These were created on the Yamaha PSR-3000 I used to own. Tucked in my gospel folder I found a song I'd forgotten I'd learned the melody of. On the thumb drive it's labeled Hatikva. It's Israel's national anthem and I really like it. All I had was the melody so I made up my own chord structure. After hearing some version on YouTube I stick by my chord structure.
I vaguely remember a friend of mine, now deceased quite a few years, sending me the melody, but I can't for the life of me remember where he got it.
It's strange to hear a song like that, one I'd completely forgotten I knew at one time, and to be reintroduced in this manner, just wow!

hmm. Another random thing. I know there's a dectalk version of the US anthem, but i wonder if there are of others as well?

i like the irish anthem, it is so beautiful especially sung in irish gaelic
scottish anthem i can play on guitar. and i like it too. i know the whole text of the polish anthem and knew the text of the russian anthem. i like it, though I am afraid to sing it in those times. of course when it is played, I stand up gloriously. it may sound wrong, but also the ukrainian anthem sounds touching, and if you are familiar with the text and try to understand the text, read the translation, and there is also a german version sung in german, you get a better feeling why ukraine is that proud. i am more on the russian side, to be honest, but i also have an understanding for the ukrainian part. I know a few ukrainians, one of them is my former school mate, and the other one is a person very precious to me. he is not on elten actually. i have told him about elten, and maybe he will come here, which would be lovely, but he has a lot to do. He fled from ukraine. as much as I understand the ukrainian part, but trolling russians is not the way people should behave. difficult question anyway. i only know that this person is in my heart, and if anyone is doing any harm to this person, it will be my personal thing to get along with it.
Going from my papers and family, they say that I am German. But noone is asking about my heart and soul, because very deep inside myself I know that I am Czech
jestli jenom zobrazí moje dokumenty, a koukají na moje rodina, ríkají, že jsem nemka, ale nikdo ne zaptal, co je hluboko v mé duši a srdce. protože já vím a cítím, že hluboko ve me jsem cešká!

I like German national anthem, also French national anthem.
But, most of interesting anthem is this, which is used in Tanzania. This melody is used not in this country in Africa, but also in another African countries too, especially in south and east Africa.

The German national anthem is absolutely gorgeous, if for no other reason that it was basically based off the second movement of Haydn's Emperer quartet, Op. 76. I'm unfamiliar with other national anthems though.
#32 pollyanna
actually I like many national anthems of many countries. Whenever there are football matches of national teams, I rush to the TV so as not to miss the singing of the national anthem.

I am currently living in Argentina, but honestly I don't like the argentinian national antem, i don't know, it's boring! And I don't like it's key, because for a woman it's too low.
But, my favs are the south african one, the kenyan national antem, and tanzanian national antem.
#38 marchoffmann
I figured you're really into southafrica. So I knew this would come hahah.
#39 Louisa
Hi, didn't think I'd post here. But personally, I've never really been into national amthems. And I've never been able to figure out south africa's national amthem or amthems, depending on which side you look at. Smile.
