hi this is George and I was wondering how could I how could I use the voice guide feature on the Yamaha genos I heard about it it's kind of a little bit of a tricky task to use it anyone knows please let me know thanks
it is very difficult because this this keyboard has I don't know if you have this keyboard but this keyboard has a touchscreen so I think this is very difficult to use
Yeah, um, well, um, actually, uh, guys, it, uh, it has, uh, you can actually get an accessibility, uh, you can actually get voice guidance for this keyboard, uh, believe it or not, um, and, um, it is, um, so, yes, it is touchscreen, but they, they're, they're, they, uh, they do have an accessible feature, so, uh, you guys can use it.
I know that you can use the voice guidance feature on the Yamaha Genos but I know you can put on the USB I'm not sure how to activate it though that's just one problem I think you just put in the USB and then just ready to go maybe that's how it is you probably may have to configure in the menu is I'm still not sure about this
my recommendation would be to download the manual for the genos that can be done I think still through the text version of the manuals Yamaha manuals site I haven't been there in a while so that may have changed and I don't know if it's still as accessible as it used to be anyway just take a look at the manual and see how how it can be done I would not want to use voice guidance especially in a live situation we're changing voices would you know you have speech through your equipment and whatever and everybody know what voice you were changing to or whatever I don't even think it could be done in a live situation anyway that's my thoughts
the text version of the manual site is no longer there although the manuals do tend to be still downloadable in text form so that although they don't have a site dedicated to it they do still have the site they do still have the text versions of manuals I did a lot of reading on the Gino's stuff the good news is that the default setting is on for voiceover so all you have to do is plug the yes the device in the external thing in and it will start talking the bad news is the operation of the voiceover stuff the voice guidance is really weird I'll explain in the next post you
To look around the screen for stuff, you have to hold down the direct access button, which for voice guidance has a different function than when voice guidance is turned off. The technique for navigating the screen therefore, hold down the direct access button, tap around until you find whatever you want, then release the thing and then hopefully tap in the same place for the item to be activated. Sounds very clunky to me.

No, I don't. I was just curious about it and downloaded the manuals. What was available anyway in text? There's a little more in PDF, but no, I was just curious to see how the thing operated and so forth.
I wish you can double tap on an item on the voice guidance feature just like you can on voiceover or you can just swipe in the screen it's almost like using a voiceover that will be much better voiceover gestures on your gmails
Yeah, so Apple wouldn't let them use voiceover technology, so yeah, it seems very clunky.
a yamaha genos is touch screen so it's almost like operating an ipad sort of
it is and it isn't because as i said as i said you had you have to hold down the the direct access button to navigate the screen find find what you want to activate or whatever and then let go of the thing and then tap the same area the same exact area to make that item open or you know voice select or whatever you're trying to do so in that respect it's not like an iphone ipad whatever it's not even like an android
Okay, next time I'm going to try the genomes, I'm going to try to use the voice guidance feature on it. I don't know if I'll like it, but it kind of sounds a little bit weird that way.
hello I've heard that this voice guide is not designed for the blind people just for legally blind people or with the little sight I don't know how to say it in English but maybe you understand me I will be very happy if this voice guide was designed for normal blind people like me but what I understand from my friend what I understood from my friend from Germany this voice guide is created just for legally people to guide what is on keyboard not for touchscreens I am not sure maybe I have a mistake you
I don't have a genos or have the six thousand dollars to throw towards one but i'm just curious does anyone know what texas speech engine uses i'm wondering if you use the acapella or iphone or something i'm just curious to know what texas speech engine it actually uses that'd be pretty interesting to know
Of course, but there is this problem the touch screen, so I don't know if it will be useful Because if some keyboard or synthesizer Have a touch screens. It is very bad for the blind people to use
Sorry to revive this topic, but I tried the Genos 2 at my local music store a couple weeks ago with voice guide and I can tell you, if I hold direct access and touch the screen, it's like preview reading. It means that when preview reading, when you hold direct access, you don't execute anything until you let go of the direct access to stop preview reading. And then once you don't have preview reading, it just touches the screen and behaves normally. So yep, I would tell you, it's 95% there as a blind. My only downside about voice guide, if it has the ability to switch. Swipe, or if it has also, it shouldn't be in WAV files because when it comes to say user created stuff on the Genos, that will be a problem. I always need to ask a side of people to help me with my user created stuff, which sometimes it can be quite annoying. So, yep, my two things are one, if it's not in WAV file. And second, it's... 95% there as a blind. And third, to have the ability to copy the voice guide feature into a USB. Into the internal memory. So, yep, I'm going to be contacting Yamaha about this. It's still in beta.
