Hey Maura, I'm not very good at describing technical things with a voice post, but I'll try. You have to go to the control panel and look for your sound settings and in there you choose the record tab. And then you tab in there and the microphone that you're using, you'll have to make sure that it's highlighted. There should be a volume control, I think it's on another tab though. But you have to make sure that that thing is highlighted before you do anything. And it's not under configure. Because that just does the test and stuff like that, but you just have to make sure that that's highlighted. Then you go to the other tab, which is, I think there's a volume tab for that. And you turn it up there. I hope this helps. Like I say, not very good at the technical things by voice.

if she's using her macbook there's no telling how it's done but on mine charles what i do uh is i i type in the i'll do the the windows r and type in m m s y s dot cpl and it goes and enter on sounds and then i can control tab to record and make sure that the that your whatever microphone you're using is your default because mine i have to switch mine back and forth with studio recorders so i can record internally as well as externally but then what i do is is go to properties for that for the microphone and control tab and arrow until i find levels and that's when you crank it up to whatever you need it to come up to i've got mine on this microphone is really a good it's a good usb mic and i've got it to set on 100 and it doesn't distort now i couldn't do that with the the uh internal mic microphone the built-in microphone of this computer but for this microphone it sounds pretty good all the way up and no boost so there it is
