Agreed. -- (thespyde): I'm one of those who loves Eloquence. It pronounces a lot of words correctly without a dictionary and is clear without being brash.
German eSpeak mispronounces a ton of things. -- (etno): It depents on the language you want eSpeak to use for. I like the german eSpeak. And it's easier to add new languages to espeak.
No, it depends on how much grammar you teach the synthesizer. This is crucial for an Arabic voice to pronounce things correctly. There are those things we call harakah or shaklah, and the letters are normally written without them. So it's these harakahs that indicate how a letter should be pronounced. And the developer should therefore make the voice in a way that makes it pronounce every letter and word according to the letters or words before and after it, and the general sentence structure. -- (hozosch): @ Usuf: yu might find the voice you've asked about on nvda.ru, if you search for acapella Infovox there. I hope you've got something to translate the website with. I'm surprised though you think Vocalizer is pronouncing things incorrectly. Perhaps it's a different variety of Arabic it speaks.
Definitely but those synthesizers are not made to speak local dialects. Even those who do have a particular accent, are intended to speak al-fusha (MSA/Modern Standard Arabic).
I don't know about other languages but Microsoft's hungarian voices are even worse than vocalizer, in my opinion at least. There's one that you can use with NVDA or jaws, it's called Szabolcs. For a non-native it might sound pretty decent, but most of us are really annoyed if we must use it for some reasons.
Όταν θα κοιτάς την θάλασσα Χωρίς να το θέλεις, θα βλέπεις εμένα Και τα μάτια σου θα ‘ναι θλιμμένα Όταν θα ξυπνάς στον ύπνο σου Χωρίς να το θέλεις, θα σκέφτεσαι εμένα Και θα νιώθεις μεγάλο κενό
The hungarian one is horrible at predicting anything :D there are some hungarian words that it pronounces as if they were english words. Even if it sounds strange, it's true and annoying as hell.

The Turkish Vocalizer voices do just the same, especially on iOS. Ad in Turkish means name but the voices would pronounce it as the abbreviation for advertisement, like "ed", which is how a typical Turkish speaker would try to pronounce it in English. Same for "be", a Turkish phrase, that the voices would try to pronounce as "bi". And "file", which the voices would pronounce as "fayl".
so. I also use eloquence, its just great. Some say its generic but after a bit of use its not, really not. I use it for years though so maybe that's why. And yeah espeak gives me quite the headaches to be honest
It might sound crazy but I'm doing mostly everything with espeak. Except reading polish, but sometimes that as well. I mean yes, I'm reading whole books with espeak at a speed around 98 percent. But I can imagine some people have a headache using it :D
