ramblio (a.k.a. scramblio) the audio social network

Yeah it's very strange there's no proper account system, so anyone with a throwaway email can register and spam. The app is pretty good though and I never thought there would be such a large community on Ramblio.
You can find me there under the name destranis

Well I couldn't sign up with my custom domain and or a forwarder, so he kinda restricted that. I had to contact him but he whitelisted me promptly.

maybe random question but how does this app make money? its like 100 dollars to post on app store, and pluss paying for server, etc, and there's no adds from what I can tell
#24 marchoffmann
Maybe he's being nice? Which, is something we should appreciate.
#25 ArcticMoon
Yeah I've been thinking about this too. Being nice is awesome and I appreciate his work, but there are thousands of huge audiofiles stored on the server, for which they require a lot, I mean, a lot of storage.

Honestly I'm guessing he's going to introduce paid plans and similar later on. Especially with the new Tweesecake rewrite, Tweesecake was always tied to a sort of license so it would not be difficult. I'm also wondering about the data handling, but tbf I don't think he's doing anything shady with it so yeah. I guess we'll see for now.
#27 khalil2009
also the apple store fee's. I think there like 100 dollars a year or something like that. also don't you need a mac to publish on the app store?
#28 marchoffmann
You might. But he might just have one. And yes it's 90 something per year. I guess we'll see how the platform is doing in a year from now.
#29 marchoffmann
Then again, if Ramblio ever gets paid features, it'd be fair I think, as long as it's nothing too extreme. I'd rather pay for that than Elten in it's current state.

Honestly one of the stupidest concepts I've seen in a long, long while. Typical blindies, just check the content on there, it's honestly so, so disheartening to listen to. I don't have to explain, those of you who are reasonable will catch my drift.
#31 Jonathan
ngl not worse than here, but indeed not very high quality stuff so far.
#32 ArcticMoon
As much as I hate blindy stuff, it's brave to say ramblio is the worst ever concept. The worst ever concept is a program which is usable only by blind folks because it has no graphics at all, is available only for us and doesn't even give sighted folks a way to join, is full of bugs, works slowly like hell, and can't get the fact that klango times are over.
Yes, I'm talking about Elten.
With this I'm not saying Ramblio is any better, but we are reading such a position from an entitled kid who thinks he has all rights to steal something if the developers aren't kind enough to keep up a game, so :D

Wellp, Ramlbio does actually have a quite all right GUI.
#34 MayowaArogundade
then again there are probably worser apps than that maybe, update, probs just gonna delete the thing because one has to be 18 just to use 1 single freakin program. I mean just look at youtube, people like myself that are 15 or so upload and stuff, and they don't have a problem, but now they went ahead and suspended ma stuff... I'm gonna paste what it says...
Account Suspension Notice
Dear Mayowa,
We're getting in touch to let you know that your Ramblio account has been temporarily suspended.
Based on activity on your account (for example, things said in audio posts or reports from other users), it appears that this account may belong to someone under the age of 18. We don't store your date of birth or age directly, so this decision is based on behaviour, content and/or reports.
Ramblio is an audio-first social platform designed for adults. People can share unfiltered conversations and discussions that may include strong language and other mature themes. To keep younger users safe and to meet our legal and policy obligations, accounts for people under 18 aren't allowed.
If we have got this wrong, we're genuinely sorry for the inconvenience. You can contact our support team at support@techcake.co.uk and provide any relevant information that shows you are 18 or over so we can review this decision and, if appropriate, restore access to your account.
We understand this may be disappointing, and we really appreciate your understanding while we work to keep the community safe.
Kind regards,
The Ramblio Team

Just goes to show how some people can be some times... And even younger people cuss too, there is this thing called, freedom of expression, you know!
#35 marchoffmann
Well? What did ya expect. They have a stick up their ass when it comes to that one.
As for Ramblio, sure, not everyone babbels relevant stuff, but at least you have the following filter for the people you do like listening to, and for such a short time, Ramblio's comunity is way bigger than this one. It just seems to work out more, too. I guess you could always complain and complain but for what. If that's not your type of comunity, don't join it. But seeing your comment about ramblio you shouldn't even be on elten by the concept of it, @urh.
Even if it's just around 3 or so people that I think upload interesting stuff atm, it's enough of a reason to keep the app around. I might also add, typical blindies, please compare the eltenger UI with Ramblio's one. And if you can't see the visual things, too bad for the blindy I guess... I've been told it looks really, er, not good.

Anyone an idea, I can not do stereo recording with my iPhone in ramblio. When Iactivate it, it tells me that the recording failed and I should check my mic permissions, but of course I gave them. And mono recording works, so what's up here? Is it my 15 Pro?

@32, I guess they can use Elten from the web, LOL

It reminded me of the Zvukova conference program from the Czech Republic. It was based on the same principle, audio-only. Created in 2013 and had a very active Czech community also with a dedicated radio, and Teamtalk server.
I don't know if it's still exists, but the concept is similar.
I also don't understand the focus on audio only. In my opinion, it only makes sense in the case of Audiopub, which is a kind of equivalent to YouTube for us, like Anyaudio few yr ago.
Personally, I am not in any WhatsApp/Telegram group where voice messages are sent. For me? Waste of time to listen to people who can't say something fast, who don't think about what they want to say and record long messages where they ponder over their choice of words.
