O lol, you made it into that game? Congrats or something.

I did but to be honest it's a shame they chose me and similar people, when I know for a fact that respected developers, programmers, long-time beta-testers have also applied.

You know, it's actually better to get less technical people to beta test. Here's why. The vast majority of people who are going to play the game aren't experienced developers and beta testers. They're going to be regular individuals just like yourself, and even people with less experience than you. It's important to get regular people to provide input since they'll have a different perspective compared to pro-devs.
Also, this might sound kind of bad, but in beta testing stupidity and idiocy is good. Why is that? Because the point of a beta is to break anything and everything. What may seem like a no-brainer not to do for a developer may not for a regular user, and thus they do it, crash the server and now the devs are able to fix it.
Also: P.S: They put out a call for beta testers. Not developer consultants
All that I survey, I could easily destroy. From time to time, it is important to remind these small creatures of the true extent of my power.

I am not sure how that specificly is related to this topic but we've talked about that at the appropriate place before and I'm not going to repeat what was said, but I find it somewhat unrealistic and perhaps presumptuous to suggest we should base acceptance or rejection on what (you) consider significant. That said, I recognize I'm veering off-topic myself. My apologies.
Something possibly related is that we used to have an average of much more than the number you've given, all doing matches and the game handled them just fine. Sadly I don't think you've logged in during these times.

Oh, elten. Oh, wonderful elten. Propensity to needlessly implode a topic into whatever this is go

anyway, I'm gonna offer my input and that's about it. You can simply do the research and find what is right for you. Python is great if your willing to put in the work to make things do what you want it to. I have had an on and off relationship with python because it can be dependency hell if you aren't sure what libraries you need to make a game or at least have an idea of what is needed to make your project work, and that's outside of gaming, but neither here or there. There have been suggestions on what libraries you can use with python, so check the previous posts if yu so desire. And for those who have made it this far in this chaos, I bid you congrats.
freecodecamp offers courses and resources.
there is also learn python the hard way if you are fine with reading a book on that subject.
You can also check codecademy.com, they have a python course, and you get pro if you can, you can get access to it, but It's a great resource even if you don't choose python to start your learning or coding journey.
As for me, I'm not sure what programming language I would prefer, each of them have there strengths and weaknesses, and that is for you to evaluate on your own.
The main reason for bgt not being a good recommendation is it is very insecure and the code can be broken or hacked into, therefore, people can easily pirate your software or just break your game entirely.
Old games that still use it, good on them, Don't care. What ever floats your boat.
If you decide to use BGT, you have been warned, that's all I will say. After all, that's a choice to make on your own.
