Yes. Ruby is very popular for web applications, in this case it is probably the most popular language at the moment. It is also very popular for console tools such as homebrew, cocoapods, vagrant, fastlane. Various generators based on this language are also very popular, Jekyll probably first of them.
Granted, Ruby is much, much less popular for desktop applications.

I see no problem at all. What a problem in sending candidatures, may be in presenting them in threats, then in voting in a survey? The privilege of mod is not needed at all. :D Even more, it could be not fair to have it.
-- (ArcticMoon):
I'm genuinely curious to know how we do all this when we don't have a leader? Pajper took away the administrator status of everyone, no one is a moderator, Pajper is the only one who can do anything in the English community at the moment. So now there is not even as much discipline as before, which is to be congratulated. Since we don't have a common leader, users don't know who to trust, we don't have anyone to make the list of new candidates. I would be happy to help, but you have taken the tools out of my hands, for which I am somewhat grateful anyway.

-- (Julitka):
If English Community is ready for that, you should make a legal voting for a new, responsible administrator. Present candidates, make a new survey and choose the winner who could choose the staff himself. But, as for now, I can't see anybody reasonable enough. :p

Of course the mod rank isn't needed, but who will the community trust with all of this?

Well, in the past I believe not many people did, so I don't see a big difference. And lets be honest, we won't find a moderation wich is completely trustable.

Well, not from all of us that are posting here for sure.

Pajper is the admin of the community now, as he was when the previous admin of Polish Community resignet. He should be responsible for the survey and elections, but as we all know, he is too busy to handle. So I proposed to keep an eye on it. Well, the whole my involvment would consist of accepting candidatures, making a survey and advise how to presenting the programme of candidates.

If you don't find any trustable mod, how any of us, how anyone ever, could help you indeed?

lets be honest here. 99.999% of the people who's posting on this topic isn't really worthy of mod rank

Thats not even important. We don't have to define who is not able/worth what so ever to be mod or even admin. Its important to find people where mostly everyone, I say mostly, because there will never be the perfect thing for everyone, feels good with. and be this user electet by a poll or whatever. but currently it doesn't seems that anyone wants to be mod. Othervice I believe thei have reached pajper.

nah I just meen its hard to find people to trust and most of the people on this topic isn't it

Jonathan

#372 ·

As I said, we don't have to say on this topic or whatever. I would even say most people in this group aren't. Thats not whats matters.

You are true with the fact that its difficult to find trustable people, but I don't like those frases like, most people on that topic, most people aren't, for this, that, or whatever. What is most, who is most. It is completely no matter.

Julitka

#375 ·

So we could close the topic here, I suppose. :p Pajper or any dev won't help you if you have noone to guide you as an admin.

As far as I'm aware he didn't resign, but the rank was taken away from us, all of a sudden. Noone has resigned.

Julitka was referring to polish situation som years ago.
By the way, as for nuno the problem was that this thread was created on August 11 and he didn't respond in this thread or on my mention till August 18. That's the reason why I decided to take the matter.
Also I asked him on August 18 if he was going to continue being administrator or moderator, no response yet.
