Regarding Ruby, this language itself is not neither old nor slow. Of course it is slower than CPP or CSharp for example.
And yes, for me it is very strange to see a desktop app writen in Ruby. But the language itself is not a problem.
Problem is that developer does not want to do anything new and just produces more paid content for those who want new fancy sounds, labels in profile, more priority in technical support, ETC.
I bet that some day will be a premium package called "The protection from moderators" so only admins can ban or mute the owner of this package, usual moderators will not have any power against those people.
It will cost 100 dollars and this day when little crazy rich spammers buy it, Elten will die.
But anyways developer will have lots of money.

Noone is stupid enough to do such a package to be honest. Regarding sound themes, yes, it's more than interesting that it's a paid feature, because neither the creators of said themes didn't agree, nor the libraries, from which people took the sounds, don't allow anyone to make those sounds commercial in their own projects.
Let's say you bought a library, made a sound theme for elten. That sound theme becomes paid so basically the end-user doesn't pay for the sounds themselves, but all the money goes to the developer of Elten, who:
1. Didn't do the theme at all,
2. Didn't buy the said sound libraries,
3. Doesn't have any rights to commercialize something that's not his content at all.

@ArcticMoon there is a bigger problem:
As i see, we have sound themes, paid and free, which are made of sounds from different libraries or other sources. For example i know a sound theme which contains sounds from paid boom library, sound ideas library, some other libraries.
Btw as i remember we have an IPhone theme which consists of course of apple sounds.
And as i know apple strictly prohibits usage of those sounds even in free products.

So all of us automaticaly become pirates and do illegal things when using elten. And elten developer is even more illegal person now because he receives money for the content which he does not own at all.

Sorry for doubleposting, but it is even more funny because as i know hacked, pirated and other illegal content is prohibited in elten, especially on the forum, and if i publish here for example pirated full version of Jieshuo or upload a torrent for some paid game, i will be banned or warned at least.
And the same time elten itself is not so legal with those paid sound themes.

Yes, and an entire foundation is behind this and supports all these actions.

The problem is that community does not even think about such things.
We are used to the fact that every audio game uses pirated sounds, unlicensed libraries, ETC.
For example soundpacks for MUDs, other games, even paid psycho strike and The Gate, manamon, etc.
Unfortunately we never think about such things.
Even me, Sometimes I forget about the fact that my 1 terabyte collection of sounds is totally pirate thing and is stolen.

But I agree with all the rest you said. That's why most of the audiogames can't get me involved anyway, they seem to be all the same, with almost the same sounds. For me it's a much better experience to play Hearthstone, Wow classic, slay the spire, etc.

Lol I don't think pajper cares to much about this rant with you two anymore haha. Let's be honest, like yall said. Elten will stay this way so why ranting for like 50 messages if a private conversation has the same result. I don't see any change being done here and tbh it's usual. It's already interesting that he replied to other stuff in the 2 recent threads here in the first place.

We talked about this in private as well with Cyrmax, and so he came here to share his thoughts, which are valid to be honest. I care about the development of Elten because I wanted to help, but my morals don't allow me to continue to do so if such limitations and racist messages don't get removed in a reasonable amount of time.

In fact, at first I thought the purpose of this topic was to discuss issues, some of which I'm aware of myself. But now I can't help feeling that it has turned into an outpouring of frustration. So I don't know what the purpose of all this is supposed to be.

Me neither. It's just two people that are well... unhappy. And, as for elten taking 3 or 4 seconds to do something. That's kind of nothing for me. Since I use 3g, I'm just glad in the end, when it does something.

As an individual, I have nothing against Elten. We have even met with Pajper in real life and he's not only a great developer, but a nice person as well. What I'm not happy with is how everything is going on here. The moderation team is almost inactive in the english community, there's some stuff for which you can illegally pay, racist messages in external plugins but still connected to Elten. That is what I'm not happy with.
I can't decide whether it's my internet or the slowness of Elten, because my provider is sadly known for giving slow internet, so in that matter I'm not as competent as Cyrmax, because he's sitting there with excellent internet.
I know older people, who primarily use this platform, don't really care of speed and intuition. It's a curse of the younger generation, because we know how everything works.
What I said, I absolutely didn't mean personally against Pajper. He wasn't the one who did all of the limitations, he didn't even know about it before we said facts in public.
But. Only two people are unhappy so no need to do anything? That's utter bullshit. The problem is that a lot of people are unhappy but they are ignored, because to my knowledge we get on quite well with Pajper and he never ignores if I send him a message. However, many people have already tried to do the same, but without any answers.
Cyrmax is a person who once becomes angry, he does everything to change something as soon as he can, because his programmist mind is built like that. Believe me, when he argues with someone, he does that the same way as well. :)
Maybe he became this kind of angry because he is a developer himself, and he sees, or maybe knows, how to optimize a program, so it worked faster.

Yup they are. Also about the other stuff, I get it for this youtube thing but for a long while it was just that only you both were writing in here, so this was almost like a public dm comversation, that is what I ment. Like, I agree with many points pls don't get me wrong.

Also I don't even look at the what's new thing anymore. I just check messages and forums automatically, it's much faster. Funny thing is what's new wasn't as laggy as now, there was a time for me where it actually has been somewhat fast.

I'm not saying that some of the arguments in this discussion are wrong, but this thread looks more like harassment and frustration than an actual attempt to find solutions.

For me "whats new" thing was much faster a few years ago too.
About conversations: if the problem exists, we discuss it here, because the topic is about that.
Of course we can discuss those things in private messages or better in other network which is faster than elten. But again, the problem exists and we write our own thoughts about this.
As i know this stuff is not prohibited by rules and if someone gets confused by our thing so called by you the public private conversation, it is only his/her problem.

Harassment? no, of course no.
Frustration? of course yes, you get it correctly, we are frustrated, because of moderation problems, administration problems, bugs, very laggy client, lack of features, illegal content. Yes, we are.

About solutions... unfortunately i cannot help with ruby code because i have never learned this programming language.
I can help with python, swift, objective-c a little bit. I have a very little knowledge in CS, but at least can read and understand the code. And of course i know bgt but bgt is actually something bullshity and old, so lets forget about this PL.
If elten had an open API, i could write an iOS client and maybe alternative windows client in python.
But as i know there is no open api and discovering this api by reverse ingeneering or sniffing is not legal at all.

What's new works fine for me, but then again I also don't have the text issues that I've seen reported elsewhere. This is probably why bugs are sometimes hard to find I reckon.
