hey there this is a star box reporting into you from the land of whatever that's worth my opinions on team talk 5 even though this thread is so dead that it is just decomposing in its grave anyway that's what I tend to do here we finalize threads either way that's beside the point I use team talk on a day-to-day basis I use team talk a lot but it is granted that you definitely want to know what servers you're going on and you want to be careful because on a lot of the public servers which I've just recently read about located are a lot of let's say less than desirable people who want to do less than desirable things under less than desirable circumstances yeah it is an interesting place at times so be careful be conscious with or as with a lot of other online things including Elton just be mindful of where you go who you speak to all that bullcrap basically online safety 101

okay so I mean team talk I mean I posted into here before you know TT it's yeah you know it was pretty nice I do miss the times from two or three years ago where TT was really active and stuff you know that's really sad I mean there are no team talk service that are active at all I mean yes there are but not public servers and also many people have just vanished from the community and you know from TT in general so yeah I mean it's not really there's not really anything that you can use and also you know TT has its security issues I mean for example that admins can read all of the accounts passwords if you don't use bareware login which you can only use on the team top 5 pro server which everyone uses so you know I do still use it I don't mind using it but I'm just saying it's not like it's not going to really live forever I mean this court is going to be the future I mean the problem is this court doesn't have the best quality regarding audio yes okay granted that's true that's granted I mean yeah but you know you know you just need to decide what's more important for you security or quality and then yeah I mean like I said personally I do not mind to mind to use TT but you know it's not the same as it was three years ago when this topic started or I don't even know when it started but like it's not even active anymore so yeah I mean yep that's what I think about team talk those days

Yeah, and what's also sad is that WebRTC, which is the library that Discord uses to do all its voiceover IP stuff, supports higher sampling rates, and it even supports stereo, which Discord did previously, but they decided to yeet it because people were like, Oh my god, this person is only talking in my left ear, and it's annoying. So yeah, that's the sad state of, you know, real-time communication over the internet. It's possible to, you know, do really good audio, except people don't want to do it, and by people I mean, you know, companies, because it creates additional server usage. And the, you know, internet bill goes straight up the wazoo, because, you know, everybody's now using a lot more data, because, you know, and, you know, I understand that, because companies want to, like, maximize profit, and they go, okay, how can we, how can we, you know, how can we, how can we save some monies? Oh, I know, we can reduce, we can reduce the bandwidth. We can, like, do a lot of compression on, on our audio stream, and it's gonna be amazing. Yay! Who cares if it's lossy? Nobody's gonna notice that. Except some blindies and techies and, you know, audiophiles, but, you know, those are niche communities, so we don't have to care about that. But, yeah, anyway, TeamTalk is kind of... That's basically why TeamTalk is kind of... A thing, but also not a thing, but, you know, until a better app comes along and says, hi, I can do excellent audio quality and not be a security nightmare, it's probably going to remain in a sort of, you know, limbo, but, you know, I hope something comes along. I certainly don't have the time to develop anything like that. I'm busy with university and... Stuff, and, yeah. So, I'm sorry, but... Have fun, I don't know, doing TeamTalk-related stuff or Discord-related shit. I mean, if you, if you want, if you want good audio quality, you can pay for, like, Zoom, you know, Zoom meetings. Because there are ways you can... Like, there are ways to get really good audio qualities on Zoom meetings, but, like... Like, that's not, that's not the normal subscription tier, but you can do it. It's possible.

you know, in my opinion, they should, um, just have, like, a setting where you could, um, turn the person mono if they were only speaking into the left ear, because, like, Team Talk can do that, so why can't freaking Discord?

Yeah, but, like, I guess I could- I cannot talk today. I guess Discord made a very executive decision, because there is a risk that average people, when they find something annoying, rather than go, Oh my god, there is something annoying happening. Let me see if there is a setting or something else that I could do to fix it. Rather than that, they go, oh my god, this is annoying, I quit. So, I don't know. Like, I guess Discord wants to appeal to most people, which is generally what they've been successful in doing. And, I don't know, stuff. So, don't think we'll be able to fix that. Without- Right. Running a modified client, and then risking making Discord angry, although that's a very low risk, unless you become super popular and stuff. And, you know, that's the way it goes. I guess if you want stereo, use, like, paid Zoom or Mumble or, I guess, TT or whatever you want to do, I guess. I don't know, it's a free world, but it's a free world as long as you adhere to Discord's... ... I mean, regulations regarding stereo-related shit. And, you know, I don't know. I've been rambling for too long. This is a thing that happens in voice forums.

um i actually haven't been on discord for like who like a year now probably yeah going on a year so have they fixed that one issue you know the one where the just everything is extremely low quality because when you go on there like at least when i did it might have been because my computer had issues but it was bad especially using a yeti it was not fun at all

So, the voice quality is kind of okay. It's a lot better than I expected when I first tried Discord. There is a bunch of lossy compression going on, but otherwise it's, you know, and, you know, there's no stereo, but otherwise it's okay. You can turn off the noise cancelling, but, you know, remember to wear headphones then, of course, so you don't feedback everybody and stuff. So, yeah.

Oh that's interesting, I need to get back on I guess because I've been on there for a long time but Discord's quality used to be crap. It was all noise reduced and everything, kinda like this recording I'm actually testing, Elton's noise reduction filter. So let's see how this goes and if it totally just fails I'm gonna delete the recording entirely and just kill it.

I will say this but uh to talk now these days if you don't got people's who you fucks with if you got people who you fucks with and they got servers you straight but if you fuck up or someone else fucking you know doesn't like you for some reason and they kick you off a server there's just that people have so many of their own servers these days there's no such thing as having fun times anymore because everybody you know like if someone doesn't like one person they'll just go and get their own server and bring everybody who they like over there and now you so like I mean that shit's retarded but other than that teamtimes great I haven't messed with discord lately what else that was pretty decent I don't know why but my fucking net does not like fucking LA but like fucking LA will fucking laggy shit but team talk won't but then when team talk does lag it's just horrible

um honestly yeah but i have got yet to um get banned off of a server so i can't really relate to that but like i presume because of like um another thing that can happen is people can very easily track your ip address off team talk if you're not careful and you don't know what you're doing so that's another thing everyone here should be careful of um and yeah they could just mess up your day they could ddos you they could um i've had some things happen to me that are not exactly the most fun ever so yeah
