Ah.
I understand now.

Well, I still like the ones in post 588 better.

Oh well, don't know. The samples that I shared later, sound better to me but they also have their problems. I had to trim them and they still have some hiss and other unwanted things. But I guess what makes you prefer the samples in post 588, is mainly the timbre.

Exactly. There's too much bass for what I usually recognize as Kanun. But maybe it's perfectly possible that a different kind of Kanun can sound like this, I know too little to really say this sounds wrong.

I'm uploading a recording from the last rehearsal for this year's tour. :)

Like this rather a lot.

Hah, it's a classical guitar. But our guitarist actually plays it almost like a harp a lot. :D

I've already told this a lot of times to you but it's awesome. :) As i said it's a huge pity I'm not in Poland when these things happen. Once I'll know more in polish, it would be great to perform with all of you guys. :)

I wonder how that classical guitar could be played just like a harp.

And here's something I made to see how that free sample library would sound and whether I could make subtler pitch adjustments to play quartertones. Well, it's actually a Kontakt library but I couldn't use the plug-in with NVDA so just loaded the samples themselves into Reaper's own sampler.

And in response to post 601, I think I've heard qanuns played in Turkey with such high amounts of bass. The materials may differ from region to region. But I know that the qanuns played by Arabic and Turkish musicians do differ at least in terms of how they're tuned and up to how many one single semitone can be divided. Arabic qanuns only allow for quartertone adjustments, while Turkish qanuns can let the player change the pitch of a note one-twelfth of a semitone.

I think what he meant by playing the guitar like harp is that if you listen to the song he attached, the guitarist plays it very softly, almost like tapping all the way, as you'd play the harp.
