Okay, hi folks, I'm back... Will post something I recorded just now, after listening to great works by others on here. So I would describe that thing as some attempt to mix and merge Arabic and Spanish/Andalusian music with a piece of BGT code using free qanun samples. So don't expect much from something played on the QWERTY keyboard. Feel more than free to have a look at my blog for more professionally-composed tracks.
Hey everyone, sorry about my background noise, actually yes, using the kanun to mix such
things is not bad, but you could have used a more middle eastern sounding scale and modified
it, even though I'm not sure if you could be able to do that with the QWERTY keyboard
because, you know, you have the microtones and whatever, but that would have been cooler
if you had a more middle eastern sounding scale and then you could have just modified
it and added some andalusian elements to it, I guess.
But that's kind of cool actually, seeing what you used for it, it wasn't bad at all.
Well, I wouldn't call that a song, George. And I did use quartertones but as I said, it's something I made with BGT and I didn't bother to add microtonal support. Quartertones you would have in Middle Eastern music already. And this is also why I played al-Hijaz scale as it is used in both Arabic and Spanish music.
Okay, the next thing is some medieval/RPG loop I've been working on, and many instruments are still missing, but this is just to give you an idea and ask if anyone would be willing to help with adding more instruments. Note that I will credit you if you do, but you shall allow me to use the track for any purpose.

hi it's been a while since i've been on this forum here and yeah a few days only there's so much
happening on this forum um and it's a great work there on both um these tunes that you posted
uh the medieval one and the other one with the andalusian um elements and all that very good
stuff and a pretty keyboard as well wow i'm impressed i have to tell you i didn't know you
could do bgt um you could program music with bgt uh i'm not into programming so there we go
Thanks... You can code things with BGT that let you do pitch manipulation but the method I used is not that user-friendly. I had to calculate how much the pitch would increase or decrease in percentages if I wanted to raise or lower a note by a certain value (a certain number of steps in many cases). I assigned certain keys to each event. And each key was also assigned a sample that it played. I hope to post some demonstration soon.
I know it's out of tune, but my budget doesn't allow me to hire someone to tune it for me. On the other hand, I don't even think it's good, I play for making others happy and I'm glad if someone finds some enjoyment in my music. I don't know what elten does with recordings though, because with a simple media player like VLC, it's not as distorted as here, I also hear what the problem is. Your mediewal stuff is great though, but I feel like if it was missing something. This way it's too midi, emotionless and empty, but honestly I have no idea what would help.
