Reaper and item editing

Hi all.
Is it possible to copy / paste / remove something just using the bracket selection, and no item splitting / deleting / removing the beats before item etc etc?
Example
I have a piano sample and I want to copy a chord to a place where another chord is... So I'll select the chord what I want to copy into the bracket selection, and I will pres ctrl + c. The problem is that the entire item will copy, and not just the selection...
So if I want to chop the kord, I have to split everything before and after the chord by pressing a, then cut the time before the chord and that's a bit dificult just for copying one thing to somewhere else...
So, any better way how to do this?

Ok, can anyone tell me why reaper puts 300 ms after every of the rendered audio? I was making some loops and then I discovered after 10 loops that they aren't an actual loops...
