Hi there cmerry, you should have a look around in the espeak settings it's self. as with google text to speech, i also have that problem when searching for some stuff on google, my dilect switches, and those cunts over there at google does not listen to feed back, so yeah. poke around in all the settings and see what you could find, if you didn't already. good luck!
to change navagation modes go to jieshuo settings, opperation settings, navagation type and change it to navagation type 2

Where the heck you can find Commentary? I looked in the play store and can't find it. Even though I'm familiar with android, I didn't come across a way to turn off auto language switching in android. The setting Nikolett mentioned is for NVDA on windows, but not for Talk back on android.

It's gotten better. Heck I could even use it on my Amazon fire tablet that has been pronounced dead. Had a few issues with it but it works.
