Hi all.
Well first of all, I'm kinda astonished that I'm the first person to join. :D
I guess not everyone has a regular look at all of the groups available, probably because they're mostly Polish, but yeah. That's kinda odd.
Anyway, back to the topic in hand.
The hammered dulcimer is a beautiful instrument, which definitely belongs to my all-time favourite instruments. I unfortunately can't play it myself, but I'm pretty sure that you could build some kind of Piano sounding like it. Since I can play the piano, that would be truely amazing. Anyway, an artist really standing out regarding this instrument is Joshua Messick. He has build his own "dulci forte" as he calls it, and my goodness there are some gorgeous pieces floating around! This includes solo as well as ensemble work. If you're interested, do a youtube search, and tell me what you think in this thread.

I do not follow what that instrument is.
The pen is mightier than the sword, but no match for a gun.

It's a stringed instrument that you hammer. In that aspect, it's kind of like a piano, but you do the hammering yourself.

Sounds highly interesting

It does
And that, is why you shouldn't do this.

There's an instrument used in the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe soundtrack. I wonder if it could be this instrument or something else. You here it in the song evacuating london.

Hmmmm it's very faint. It does kind of sound like it, but it's extremely difficult to tell. Do you know "mary and the witch's flower" though? There, on track 2 of the soundtrack, you can hear Joshua messick playing it.

No I don't know about that. Yes I agree, it's very faint on that song. I've never seen the moovie you've mentioned. Sounds interesting.
