Speech synthesizers
Back to Computers and Technology#1 hozosch Archived
Hi people, in this thread we can talk about speech synthesizers, about the ones we use, like and know.
I like espeak, because it is very responsive and it is the only synth in which I managed to edit the
sound of phonemes and pronunciation rules. I do like other synths, too, for example vocalizer, my favourite
one is the german voice markus, in english gb my favourite is Malcolm, and in US english my favourite is tom.
I also really like neo speech because of their kate voice. Whoever spoke the sentences for this voice
had a very nice sounding voice. And I also like eloquence, it is the first synth which I ever heard,
and I also like dectalk because it can sing. All right, that's it for me for now, I'm very curious what
your position to this topic is. Best regards,- Karl.

I have the version of Eloquence with auto-language support and it supports the back-quote tags for making
it, um, sort of sing. I like and use Eloquence a whole lot, but I also like the VW voices, or that's
what they show up on my computer as. Kate, Juli and Paul are those, and all are very good quality voices.

Yeah, I've got that eloquence on my NVDA as well. I also have got the eloquence 3.3, with those old voices
such as wade and flo.
#4 thespyde
Hmm, never hoid of those voices. Not sure how legal mine is, evil grin.
#5 hozosch Archived
Not sure either, but I am going to use it anyway. No one has stopped me yet. As for vw, that stands for
voice ware and is, in fact,
neo speech, if you didn't know that already. You can also inquire a trial on their website, but you have
to enter, along with some contact information, a verification code, which I can't find anywhere on there. No captca graphic, nothing.

I using espeak and soft voice. Of polish synths i occasionally using Syntlk
#7 thespyde
I'm rather ignorant on what stuff stands for, so thanks for the info on VW. I have, um, not legal versions
of the three VW voices I mentioned.
I also have the Microsoft Speech Platform and like the voices, at least one, of them.
For fun I got the Festival and such, which I hardly ever use, but like to have them anyway.

@daszekmdn: I know syntalk, too, and I actually like it, with kasia being my favourite voice. And one thing that
I find quite neat is, that it kind of can speak german,, but, of course, with a polish accent and it doesn't
always get things right.

hmm! verry interesting. e-speak is something i like but there are others out there i might like wich
i might come across while either looking up for things or downloading things.

Yeah, I also like rh voice. They might be able to implement my voice, if I ask them, because, apparently,
circum reality, with which I created it, uses the same sentence set as rh voice, which I know because
in both circum reality and rh voice, there are the voices like Slt, Clb and Allan. I will mail the developer
about it and hope he'll reply.
#11 thespyde
That's interesting about RH voice. Lots I don't know, haha.
#12 musicaljohn
seems interesting. i'm hoping it all turns out well for you.
#13 hozosch Archived
Well, he / she replied, asking what language it is, I sent a reply to this, but he / she still didn't reply
to that one. Hopefully it isn't recognized as spam.
#14 musicaljohn
i hope it isn't either. for i like to experience new synths that might come available to us soon
#15 hozosch Archived
i look again now, and if there still isn't a reply, I write another mail.
#16 hozosch Archived
Well, I got a reply almost instantaneously to the mail I wrote today, but he / she has got some health
problems to deal with and also has to work on other things right now. Besides, the Sentences are made
from home recordings, which isn't always ideal, as you may gather. In his / her experience, studio recordings
are rarely ideal either. So, my voice won't be included, but, if you want, you can have my not so responsive
Circum Reality version of it. If you need help setting it up, please let me know. I will upload it to dropbox,
please write me a private message if you want to have the link for downloading it.

Iuse rhvoice for everyday work.
#18 etno
I use Espeak in NVDA and allso in SAPI. in Android i use the Google TTS.
#19 Louisa
Espeak is horible in my view. Though I guess it depends on what you are prepared to listen too, or are
used too.

Yeah, the default voice sucks. If you want to try my very smooth sounding variant I created, please
let me know. I use it all the time, but not in elten though.
