I'm curious if others also have as many stories as I do of sighted people trying to help being completely ignorant and just downright rude. Think grabbing your cane, touching you randomly, pushing you etc. etc. My latest notable one was a few days ago an older woman grabbed onto my hand and started pushing me in the middle of me crossing the street at a very busy intersection and saying "slow down son, slow down". She grabbed onto me so abruptly and strongly that I couldn't push her off, so I instinctively hit her hand that was holding me. I know people are trying to help, but dude, how would you feel if someone came up to you on the street and started randomly grabbing you like that. I think you'd call that assault. Anyways, I'm curious if others also have stories like that.
Sounds like every day reality to me :D Sometimes, they will be like no, not here, you're oing wrong! Sorry, but I think I know better where I'm going. It woudln't be half as bad if it turned out that they actually helped me to get where I need to get, but sometimes they'll just assume they know where I wanted to go. These days, I often ask people, where are you guiding me to? Where are you taking me? They answer, and I'm like, but that's not where I wanted to go! One person once said, well I don't know where you wanna go then. I answered with, well, I know where I wanna go, laughed and went on my way. It's so tiring to have to deal with this nonsense though. Sometimes, I prefer to be left alone and figure shit out longer than if a sighted person had to figure out what I need help with, as they don't always understand my instructions even, so they waste my time. Sorry for the chaotic post, boils my blood just thinking about it.
