EltenLink

ramblio (a.k.a. scramblio) the audio social network

Back to Technology

so, basically ramblio is this new app made by Joshua Stirland (the same person behind the tweesecake.social domain on mastodon, but that's not the topic for this thread.) Its an audio-first social network, similar to how elten and klango do audio posts, except, its all audio posts. By this means that you can share stories, moments, and other weird stuff. That means you can piss in an ocean of audio posts... Ok no...

anyways the link to it is https://ramblio.com

theres an app on the app store for it but the android version is still in beta. Anyways, have fun sharing some weird and possibly random stuff on this app!

There is a web version but no Windows app afaik. Wellp, you lost me at the audio only part. No idea why all the blindys love listening to some random slow babbling person talking about some random topic. Like, I see literally no 0.0% sense. AudioPub is nice cuz you have text comments, it's actually just focused on sharing audio clips, but not, cheap social media feed with audio only. The hang outs seem interesting, but well it's not like we wouldn't have other conferencing software right? Also I'd guess it might come to the TC rewrite but idk.

Hmm, pretty interesting, for those of us who enjoy people's voices and such that is.

I agree here. I mostly prefer text. Not sure why another platform only for audio posts but I won't argue. It's up to the developers who make it.

I'll give this a hard pass thank you very much. I'm not a huge fond of audio only content, unless it's on a well maintained place like audio pub.

yeah I'm with all the others on this one. if you really want audio, why not just send voice messages on the many good mainstream platforms that are around

The fact that there's not even a windows version or proper android one kinda puts me off. Also forcing audio posts on people just doesn't feel right to let there be a big enough comunity.

So, I herd that there are now text comments that people can post on the platform, but I don't know how true that is. One of my friends was testing the mobile beta of the app.

There's not even a propper account system either, wich makes me think that bots with fake emails could just log in and wreak havoc on the site without any varification what so evver. Correct me if I'm wrong otherwise.

Alright, looks like I was able to log in to the mobile web version of the platform, and I do indeed see the place where you can enter text comments on a user's ramble.

I quite like the IOS app, but the one thing that would truely make the app worth using is if the hangouts mode had better voice quality. Right now it sounds like as if you were talking on telegram or whatsapp.

Oh and also, the ability to make hangouts private would be something amazing.

You can always contact josh himself for suggestions for the thing, and I don't even think you can set the visibility of rambles, except from guest users

So where exactly can you use the windows version/what is the website? I couldn't find anything.
I, however, tried the iOS app a couple hours ago and it's really not half bad. I really didn't expect there to be such a big comunity already in such short time. I mean it's like, a month old or what?
Personally, I'm not always comfortable recording audios because it's as if I were to talk to the wall, or in other words, I can't really have louder monologs with myself lol. At least comments can be in text and I actually really like what they did with this zone thingy.
So I guess it was more of a positive experience than I thought it'd be over all. I think it's a bit strange with this entire email only thing and no password, not sure how it's gonna remember me next time. I mean, you don't even have to click register or login, it literally doesn't matter if you had an acc before.

To be fair, the UI is quite intuitive. We'll see whether I'll find content that interests me there which is not what I assumed in my previous post but I give him that. It's simple and intuitive. So yeah, obviously I'm on there now as well. Jonathan859, in case it wasn't obvious anyway.
