is your partner blind or sighted?

The older I'm getting, the more I have to agree that distance is a killer, literally and metaphorically :D

Right now I don't have a partner, and honestly, I haven't had much success with relationships so far. But personally, I think I’d actually prefer if my girlfriend were also blind. I feel like we’d probably have more in common and share more interests that way.
I believe it's important for blind people to be independent, and I try to live by that myself. To me, freedom means being able to go somewhere on my own using public transport, or being able to cook by myself.

For me, it's slightly different. I'm fully sighted, while she is completely blind and I'm completely fine with that.
She can do a lot on her own, using public transport, cook if she wants to, I still need to help her when say, she wants to go out with friends, although she doesn't do that often anymore.

I was asked out on a date at class by someone I'd been talking to for a bit at that point. She is fully sighted, so that'll be my first time experiencing the blind human dates sighted human type world. Anyways, we're set to go to this restaurant in the city where I currently live, so I'll update? maybe?

don't worry, I won't be a threat. Or will I be? No one knows. Anyways, I have a lot of blind people in my life. My dad (rest in peace), my girlfriend, 5 of my students, my sister too. So yeah.

That's cool, welcome. But back to the topic. I think what's most important is that a partner is no personal assistent. Of course it's ok to help each other, but many blind people expect way too much from their partners

I agree. My girlfriend did that in the first months of our relationship. We had a talk about it, and now she almost never needs my help. Well, accept for when we go to the park, I always drive. Duh, she can't, and if she were to try, I think we'd already be against a wall or a tree in 5 seconds. No offence to blind people at all, but it's true.

I do not have a partner currently, but it doesn't matter wether she will be blind or not. I do just hope for a stabel knowlage that you will be loved and no betrails would happen. Sorry for my english it needs improving, definitely. One day I can chat like a natve english speaker and the other I'm doing that silly mistakes which I see but can not do anything with it.

My husband is fully blind, like me. I already know him since 31 years! We were in a class in school when we were children. That was in 1994. 2007, we felt that it is love between us. And on june 16th 2016 we maried.

Nice. Also thanks for actually helping me feel a little younger with those numbers. I tend to feel really old compared to the people around me.
