ToyMania, my third standalone game.

Back to Games

#1 DevilGuardian

Taken from the audiogames.net forum.
Hello everyone! I just made the toy mania game a standalone project.
I know this game may have been a part of my other main game cooky craze, but I decided to make it a Separate game entirely. I realized that this game wasn't suited to be a mini game, considering the nature of it and all.
I added some documentation to the game, provided down below.
Welcome to toy mania! In this game, you must collect toys, find keys, and defeat enemies before being able to escape the store.
To play the game, you have to move around the store collecting toys, defeating enemies, and unlocking the final exit. The goal of the game is to find all of the keys and reach the exit before the time runs out.
As you progress, the game becomes more and more challenging. You'll have to deal with cars, guards, and eventually a powerful boss that will chase you around the store.
You can equip various weapons, each with different strengths and ranges, to help fight off enemies. If your health reaches zero, or the time expires, you lose.
Can you escape before the boss inevitably catches you? Let's find out!
Here are all of the changes I've made for version 1.0 so far. These will be updated as I continue adding more things to the game.
Replaced the boss hitting sounds with new ones.
Decreased the amount of keys you need to collect to unlock the door. This value will also be spoken when trying to unlock the door.
Made it so the ammo of the machine gun resets upon redrawing it.
Fixed a bug where keys and toys were being broken at the start of a new game despite the clock not allowing them to do it.
Added a door that will randomly spawn on the map while you're on the boss area. You can't open this door unless you've collected all of the keys that are required to unlock it.
Fixed a bug where you were still able to hit bosses, cars, and guards while your machinegun was empty.
Added 2 new weapons. The laser, and the machine gun.
Changed the key to run from control to alt.
Made it so keys get destroied if you don't collect them on time.
You can now collect keys. They will start appearing in the boss area of the map.
Made it so the boss class launches random guards with different atributes.
Adjusted some tweaks. The guards will no longer show up untill you reach the boss area. They will also no longer destroy the toys that get dropped on the ground.
Made it so the damage of weapons are randomized when hitting bosses, cars, and guards.
Added health mechanics. When a guard or a boss attacks you, you'll here pain sounds. The same thing will apply if they kill you.
Made it so toys get broken if you don't collect them on time.
Added damage and range stats to all of the weapons.
Added a boss that will attack, heal, and teleport around the area. This boss can be killed using your weapons.
Added guards that will attack and patrol the area. These guards can be killed using your weapons.
Added toy cars that will patrol the area. These cars can be destroyed using your weapons.
Added the ability to draw and equip weapons.
That will be all for now. This game will receive more updates the further it goes along. The game will be removed entirely from the cooky craze game when version 2.3 of it comes out to the public.
If you find any bugs and or features you'd like to be included in the next version, please let me know. I'll try to implement them as soon as I can.
Enjoy, and happy collecting!

No, the toys are not taken from other games. Someone helped me make those.

Does Mark have any games? If yes, could you provide a link so we could all look at them?

I mean, your not totally wrong I suppose. Tbh the music used in this game came from gc, but as far as everything else, not so much.

Nope, he has not, because in fact, I'm his coder. If I weren't lazy and over-perfectionist and NVGT so unfinished as it is, he would maybe have, who knows. Back to topic though, I don't get the problem with the criticism that many of the sounds are just copied or whatsoever, not designed. It's valid, it's true, the dev himself admits it. And now? Nothing will happen, we know all opinions, good, was a criticism like everything else, now continue your life and get off the dumb road you're currently on. Makes you look no bit better, tbh.

At this point she just goes against everyone and everybody so we really shouldn't fead her comments. Yup, let's move on. Might take a look then. But it's kinda important you credit the music you use. If you know where it came from truely before being put into gc you should be good.

I have know idea where tunmi got the actuall music from to put in gc, otherwise I would of put a line in the readme stating where it came from.
I'll ask him about it when he wakes up.

Um I don't think he will be so happy about this, how just about using music libraries and then knowing whether you even can just pack them in a folder where everyone has access to?

If you give me the music number I can give you the credits for it. Most of Golden Crayon's music is from Kevin Macleod, Fesliyan Studios, iLife, and Andre Louis, with some pieces by me.

Usually I've never really seen eye to eye with ArcticMoon, but in this case I'm going to speak up.
1. Why does it matter if you design the sounds or not? Some people just do not have the time and/or patience to sit down and make their own sounds. Say hello to stock libraries.
2. What is the problem with using the same sound library another game uses? Is it a crime to need a gun from the same library, but since the other game uses the same gun it means its off the list? Damn it, they used the AK47 sounds from this library! Well, guess we need to find a different AK47 collection. No, that's just ridiculous!
3. Watch more movies, shows, and listen to some mainstream games. Most, if not all of them, share the same sounds. You could casually open Boom Library, Sound Ideas, and Hollywood Edge. Sift through SFX Kit and Game Master Audio. Lots and lots of sounds from these libraries are used in this modern day.
So, I ask you. Why, is it sooooooo bad, to use the same sounds another game uses?
Okay, I get it. Designing your own sounds is more unique. But you shouldn't hold a game to what sounds it uses just because they weren't, designed. There’s no real problem unless the sound is heavily associated with another game in a way that feels out of place.
For instance? The famous Wilhelm scream is in countless films, yet nobody complains because it's about how it's used, not where it came from. It's in Despicable Me, Stranger Things, Cobra Kai, the list goes on. Want another? Here you go. Resident Evil, Call of Duty, Halo, and Battlefield? Yeah, they share a ton of sounds with each other.
And just to back up my whole thing about Boom Library, Hollywood Edge and whatnot, Boom Library, Sound Ideas, and Hollywood Edge are industry standards. They're literally designed to be used across multiple projects. Probably a bit out of context, but wanted to shove that in there for extra clarity.
And to put it bluntly. If you do not like this sort of stuff, well? Sorry but, it's everywhere. You either play a game, movie, or show that is most likely going t be full of media you already know? Or you might as well just play a text adventure or manager so you don't have to worry and complain that this other game shares sounds with this one. This is something you have been doing for several years now, and it's getting old. For everyone's sanity, stop.

But then again I suppose if you did play a text adventure or manager, you'd start complaining that both of them use the same font or are both in UTF-8, when one should use ASCII instead.
