Hello guys. Does anyone have a youtube video or playlist downloader that will allow you to download the content directly on to your computer? Thanks.

Elten, Caliope, I think Forbar2000, Renova Music, yt-dlp (command line) and whatnot.

I'd recommend yt-dlp. It's always updated and it just works unlike other tools.

Caliope works very well for me and it also can update yt-dlp so I see not an issue.

You can update yt-dlp with yt-dlp --update. And talking about Calliope, yes, it works, but it has some issues with downloading for me. Sometimes it just gets stuck on "preprocessing" and I don't get any information about the progress, at least with the 3.8 release.

You are aware that in Caliope you can hit a button to update yt-dlp to the latest release right?

Well, it seemed you aren't. Basically, yt-dlp is the same as caliope just with command line. In Caliope yt-dlp updates itself so it never will break, you can search for videos and download them, etc.

Accessible YouTube Downloader Pro works again. It won't read comments like it used to but yesterday I got the updated version. It hadn't been working for so long I gave up on it, but the developer finally answered one of my emails with the updated installer. I let him know it still won't read comments, so we'll see if he ever does anything about it.

Is the static issue in Accessible Youtube downloader pro fixed? I used this app a year ago or so when it started making loud static noise in the middle of a video and I really don't want to hear that again.

Always have used yt-dlp cli for these tasks but I think gui thing will be more comfortable for most of my friends!

Btw if you want to use all yt-dlp features you also need ffmpeg installed.

Calliope functions more like an audio player, and not a downloader. If someone needs a program exactly for downloading stuff, there's always the one from Pontes. Once I even wrote a program with chat gpt. At first it was just CLI, and then it created a GUI as well.

Caliopes UI is, well, you needa get used to it and I don't like it.

I prefer Accessible YouTube Downloader Pro, which works for now, except for reading comments, which isn't a high priority for me.

@14: This is not true, you have a button called run yt-dlp where you also can enter one or multiple URL's to download with specified options. The main you tube screen is the customizeable search, that's true.
@15: You can customize the behaviour (that it jumps into the tabs when changing them rather than staying focused on them) in the settings. I was concerned at first, but it is amazing. You also have shortcuts - alt + numbers + for jumping directly to the tabs.
@16: Not a bad choize either, I like that one too as I have recently tried it.

Yes, I know. What I'm saying is, if someone wants a downloader but uses for example Foobar for playing audio, they don't want a completely new player, but a simple program for downloading. But I'm aware of the feature, and it's cool. If you use Calliope as your main audio player, it must be very comfortable :)

Ah, I see your point. Yep you could be right.

For some weard eason the Elton Youtube thing doesn't let me download. It always gives me an error of some sorts.
