activitypub with elten
Back to Suggestions and Idea's#1 adisonverlice2
hi:
I had the idea that elten, like mastodon, peertube, etc, could federate with others through activitypub or similar protocols.
that way, it would not completely die if, say, eltens main web conferencing system goes down, there are still alternate platforms using elten.
thank you

This is never going to happen, because first of all Elten consumes a lot of resources, secondly how you would imagine premium packages to work? Thirdly I have heard Elten requires a compiler that is not even free, and let's not start by the simple fact that if Elten updates appear every year 2 or 3 times they by most contain 3 or 4 new features from small to medium, thus a such large feature is almost inpossible to appear. Generally an ok idea though.

can't the compiler be changed to free? donations are always a thing (i'm sure that there are people contributing to the prowadnica foundation either via donation or sponsors anyway).
also, mastodon consumes a lot of resources, matrix consumes a lot of resources, especially when you're dealing with several followers. what's the difference here, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi there. I am not a developer neither am I familiar with the codebase or even rubi, so you may want to ask Pajper about this. Regarding the compiler, this one isn't by the foundation itself, it's a compiler by someone else I don't know.

I see.
I thought pajper would be in this forum lol, I guess he doesn't come here that uch

I do think its a good idea, its just that Pajper needs to actually put the effort in and figure out how it would be implamented
#7 adisonverlice2
these days it's not that hard to do
#8 adisonverlice2
just curious, how do you get a hold of pajpers? he usually doesn't check elten DMs from my understanding
#9 rudolf
Yeah, that's the case in most of times, maybe you're either lucky or... Well, if you buy a sponsorship package you'll get preorities.

FAQ/general:
Information about the people who administer the portal or parts of it can be found in the menu, "Community", "Users", "Administration and authors". From here, you can send the relevant users a private message.
You can also contact them in other ways; please have a look at the visitingcards of the respective administrators, where you may find other contacts.
The project administration can also be contacted directly by e-mail at support@elten.link.
The "Prowadnica Foundation", which runs the project, can be contacted at fundacja@prowadnica.org. Please note that we do not provide any technical or other support regarding Elten at this address.
In Pajper's visitng card it says: Mail: dawidpieper@o2.pl
One of these three should do it.
