Oof. Audex is very old and buggy, not to mension you can't make it sound quite right, so commentary screenreader is the true winner of sounds here.
-- (rudolf):
for android, there is an app which basically does the same, but just much much easier. it basically is able to download themes online, suh as voice over, old talk back and more and then changes the screenreader tones to the selected ones. the orginal ones need to be disabled in the settings for that. the app is awayable in the play store, as far as I remember, and is called audex.

I actually have Voiceover sounds disabled. It makes the phone move much faster

All that I survey, I could easily destroy. From time to time, it is important to remind these small creatures of the true extent of my power.

No, in fact you have a feeling that the phone lags even more than with sounds on. At least my experience was like that. And yes, I loved my iPhone. But it truly felt so damn slow if I disabled the sounds.

I can even explain why. The sounds add a feeling that the phone reacts superfast, while what exactly happens is that at the time you hear the sounds, basically nothing happens in terms of speech. And if you turn off the sounds, you constantly hear this little pause between your action and the speech feedback.

If you want to use android, comentary screenreader is a lot of better than talkback, especially when you want to configure it. Generally you can do everything on your phone uing only 1 finger, which is very advantage compare to ios, but as someone wrote, now on android you have a problem with braille keyboard. Talkback has its own, but as I said, comentary has a lot of more functions and it's faster. Now I will try to use iphone.

I also say in addition to that post, since I never use brail keyboard and if you don't need it like me. Using the free version of comentary is enough. Sure paying makes you use more functions but I'm fine with the free version as it is.

If I didn't have a premium version, I would also use csr instead of talkback.
As for phones, you can even buy something for 200 euro and less and it should work well. I've used nokia 4,2 for 2 years and it cost 100 euro, but it hasn't compas, text recognition doesn't work so much.
If you like smaller phones, I can recommend you asus zenfone 9 or 10, it isn't so cheap.

I personally use a samsung galaxy a 72 with now running commentary on it. I have someone's custom modifications and it works very well, besides that I can't accept calls with the louder button and end it with the function button.

Actually? He is correct. There are times where I will turn off the sounds, and VoiceOver seems to speed up. Just because you have a different experience doesn't define the experience of others.

I did experience the same as arctic, though. Also I can't seem to connect to the server of soundthemes or gesture themes which I wanted to try downloading yesterday.
