Study of the needs regarding Elten English Community
Back to Threads Archive#1 pajper
Dear users!
As promised, I am creating a poll where you can share your opinions about Elten. The survey is open with no time limit, but I intend to draw conclusions at the beginning of February.
I very much ask for a thoughtful and considered vote. I will sift the poll for spam, multi-accounts and so on before taking the results into account, and I would like to avoid false positives.

I'd like to thank you pajper that you created this poll. I expected it a bit later if I am honestly.
#3 rudolf
though I wonder how long the poll will take.

lol why do especialy germans put their username but not write anything into the text fealds?
#5 marchoffmann Archived
Idk man. Either they're formulation or they have nothing to say/don't participate enough and yet feel the need to fill it out, I think?
#6 pajper
Insulting posts removed.

Hi!
This topic once again went offtopic and insulting.
I don't know blind communities at all. I've never been active at Audiogames or any other place, except Klango. But I'm member of many forums of sighted people, from literary to programmers. And this tone wouldn't be accepted on any of them.
Yes, we can talk about candidacies and even prove that someone is good/bad for a desired role. We can express our sympathies and antipathies. But, please, as a matter of courtesy and respect.
Nevertheles if you want to talk about candidature of Sir-Charlie, please make a separate topic on this forum and there, in a clear and respectful way, present your arguments. I will follow this discussion as I don't know him at all.
But the way we express ourselves, especially in negation, often says a lot about us, remember that.
And this topic has been cleared once more.

Lol. Okay.

Now this is ridiculous. Neither of us has said anything insulting at this point. At this point it just looks like you are trying to censor discussions here.
#11 CritterPup
You know what? No. I'm not going to sit down and just take this.
Our conversation was respectful. No insults were thrown. No off-topic conversations happened. All of the stuff we're talking about, all of it, is in the poll at the top of this post. You're silencing us. If you told us to move our conversation to another one, fine, I'd understand that, but you simply removed our posts, and that is infinitely worse to me. I don't know you. I don't know what you're going through. But that's not how any sighted forum, as you say, would manage this either. Utterly ridiculous.
But hey. This will probably get deleted as "insulting" in a few minutes, so what's the point right?

lololol first time that I agree.
And to be honest, I just wish we all could get the respect and community back we once had, not anything else, obvioursly I've been running in a wrong direction, and I could've formulated things way more better, but this whole deleting thing is just really redicolous, because you come up, delete stuff, and disappear again, probably with out even reading or evaluating it.

Couldn't have said it better.

Oh yeah, another thing? Isn't this topic called a study of the needs of the community?
Isn't an admin something the community needs?
Oh yeah, we were so off topic.
Give me a break. And yes I'm being aggressive here but I'm pissed.
#15 karmien
Also it's really unusual in communities, sighted and blind, to remove posts. Except for flat out spam posts, but did these happn here? O well, if ignoring doesn't work anymore you have to take other measures i guess...
#16 pajper
No, I didn't take it that way. But, listen, this is what we're looking for. We are looking for a new administrator who will introduce rules that will suit the majority.
You often compare your activity to Polish forums, where we currently have over 220,000 posts in total. Well, on Polish forums this way of expressing yourself would be removed with a warning. But this is the specificity adopted in polish community, different rules may apply here. It's up to you to find a person who meets your expectations.
I'm still open to discussion because I don't know the people we're talking about at all, and I want to make the best decision for english community users.

So in pollish community it's normal to delete offending posts? Aha, not at all intransparent... Any way, that's a different story.
#18 khalil2009
I don't even think you know what insulting meens
#19 pajper
If you want to forcefully reopen a thread where you were asked to separate the discussion, the only result will be deletion again. It doesn't amuse me.
I made a request, create a separate topic about this candidacy and you can exchange your views there, I will follow it.

Man I don't even know (or care) enough about this community to formulate an idea of who is and isn't going to be admin, but hopefully the eventual candidate proves to be a better fit than Pajber and their authoritarian views that have done nothing but run this forum further into stupidity.
P.S.: Pajber, your signature has the potential to be insulting to some; can you please delete the #StandWithUkraine part? I don't think it's appropriate for you to showcase and promote a bias based on current political trends and issues.
