i know a lot persons who doing it and still a life so? A small one headphone isn't bad because you hear everything. If you are scared, you can buy also bone conducted headphones. They do not disturb the space and allow phone to provide the necessary information.

Exactly Daszekmdn, that's true. The problem with such apps as Osmand is though the fact, that you definitely need to hold the phone in front of you, to get the right directions. It's not about setting the route and go, but it generates you like a beacon on the flow. If you've ever played WOW classic, imagine it as SKU.

Yea, I do this often, airpods with transparents mode are great. But yea, arctic is actualy right.

IDK. I get spacial awareness issues with things on my head/ears so I wouldn't do it personally.

Well, I think this is individual for everyone, I have no problem with it for now. whatever.

as for me, I can walk with my earphone plugged and I can hear cars, etc. And I quite challenge myself to reach some building, and, I achieve that!
I started to do it since 2022, of corse I had fails, of corse I used to get help from random people, but for now, I can go to shops/houses where I need with no problems.
And for now, there is a new goal for me : reach the university with no help.
I gotta start it from sep 2, and I guess I could go there with no problems.
So gueys, don't be stressed, start with little things, and you will be availalble to reach where you need.

Forgot to mention, I use osmant and it's fine for me.

I was sitting in the train station, using my galaxy flip 3, important later, trying to plan a route. I had the phone folded in half so I could just use it one handed while holding my cane and other things and someone came and pulled on the top bit, basically the half of the screen I wasn't using. It freaked me out and people did help fortunately, but it made me feel so unsafe in that area that I just plan my whole route at home now, keep my phone in a little crossbody bag and use it that way and no way I use an expensive phone out and about now.
To add to the story, I am in England, I was in a decent area in Kent, so that shouldn't happen.
These days I also use a pair of overly cheap aliexpress bone conduction Xiaomi earphones things, Xiaomi my ass cause they are surely fake, but it works out.
Also my advice for the apps you need a phone in your hand, get a case with laniard holes and a phone strap, a case with a strap built in if that's your thing, not mine and also get a case that makes your phone look ugly and cheap. I have one for my iPhone that covers the cameras with a slide cover and it looks rudged, looks more like one of these 100 euro construction phones than a 15 pro max. To be fair though, I fully switched to a Nothing phone, who no one wants to steal here bc they don't know what it is, so it doesn't look valuable.
