hello everyone so this is my first official elton thread post on the english elton community voice forum so you know no pressure um i just had a quick question regarding sleep and that question is what um what strategies do you guys use so for me i am i don't exactly have a set strategy so that's kind of why i'm making this post to see what you guys use and you know maybe i can start implementing one of those if i think oh maybe that'll work um i've tried melatonin and it works but i think it works a little too well because i feel so drowsy in the morning then when i you know need to get up and whether i gotta you know go to work or do you know school go to school um it's a little easier obviously when it's summer and you can sleep in and kind of it's a you know a little less stressful um um regardless obviously if you use melatonin too much it'll be a habit for your body and like obviously if it isn't naturally produced like you know um it can make you like want to doze and stuff like that at least it has for me um like sometimes um i'll be trying to concentrate on an assignment and like my eyes will just like flutter closed and i'll like be like no no i gotta wake up um so melatonin hasn't really worked i've also tried like putting something on to help me sleep and i've also tried like putting something on to help me sleep because i'm the kind of person to where i don't really like to sleep when it's just eerily quiet i don't know it could just be me but like i don't know it just it just feels like so empty and like i don't know i just i don't like that feeling so whether that be music whether that be a podcast whether that be a book like just any even like ambience um just any sort of noise that i can kind of just um relax to and then the final thing that i'm going to do is i'm going to go to my i've tried is just kind of in a way setting a schedule for myself so no melatonin no noise just um having an alarm set for specific time you know and then i'm making sure that i go to bed out of specific time and that kind of works um it's just it's very easy also to get that offset because if you're really engrossed in something like if you're really like you're like you're um um it's a little easier you know when you're um at work because when you come home from work you're exhausted but when you know you're at school and you're studying or you're doing homework you know or it's summer and you have free time and you're playing games with your friends and stuff like that can offset everything and so it just ends up you know bringing you back to square one so that was a long post about just sort of random just extra stuff but essentially um i just want to know what do you guys do um to help you sleep and how has it worked for you so i guess it's kind of a two questions to one thing but you know i guess it's okay

hi what's up so sleep yeah I am I use sleep sounds to help me sleep I well maybe it's not so much helping me sleep like yeah I guess it is help help me get to sleep so that's on the echo or you can ask it to play brown noise or car ride or train or I like the brown noise because I am a huge fan of sleeping to the sound of like an air conditioner or when it's cold out and the furnace turns on oh my gosh I just love that sound I wish I could go on all night so I use the brown noise in substitution of that also this may be really weird but I have to rock myself to sleep I don't I can't just sit still and go to sleep I have to rock myself to sleep I don't know if it was a because when I was younger I used to rock all the time I think a lot of blind people did that and uh I don't rock anymore but as I said I have to rock myself to sleep and yeah I don't know what it is but and um my dreams are kind of weird too like they're kind of weird too like they're kind of weird too like they're the same kind of dream um like it's like an every other night thing for me but I'll have dreams about you know school me either you know reading something or taking a test or breaking a computer or at school it's just it's weird the stuff that my mind comes up with or I'll dream about or the next you know every the next day um I'll dream about me in a car going somewhere not making it going somewhere not making it and then maybe in a couple you know in a week or two I'll dream about you know that same car or something it's really weird what my stuff comes up with dreams or I don't know um and then I have this concept of like if I know something is going to happen or I want something to happen I'll dream about it the next day as if it's definitely going to happen and then it may not happen or it will happen I don't know it's weird sorry that my thoughts are all over the place I'll dream about it the next day as if it's definitely going to happen and then it may not but I hope the sleep sounds thing helps or helps rather

I agree with everything that was said in the post before. I also get dreams that are similar to how you explained. And in terms of rocking in order to sleep, I have to do that because of my adhd.

#7

Oh, wow! I feel better that I'm not the only one who has to rock myself to sleep. LOL.

hi everyone i have been researching this topic for years now because i have been suffering from insomnia since i was a kid pretty much and i completely understand what the original poster is feeling and everyone else who is struggling with something similar here on this community there are a few things you could try different options work differently on people's bodies people's organisms so unfortunately you have to experiment most likely the first solution or first couple solutions you try will not work for you but don't ever let yourself be disappointed by that because sooner or later you might actually find an answer to your problem okay so those choices really are among others of course i'm gonna only mention a few here cbd you can try some strong full spectrum cbd i repeat it has to be full spectrum otherwise it will not work very effectively and you might as well just be losing your money on it um of course taking the uh tablet taking the tablets um taking melatonin in a form of supplement you can do that but uh one of those side effects that have been mentioned in the first post are that for example um you feel very drowsy and very groggy the next day so i guess the dosage is right uh how how many hours you give yourself to sleep as well as how many hours you do actually need to sleep because different bodies have different expectations of course you know you have eight to ten hours that is like a given average but actually some people might want to sleep only six or seven hours or they might need to sleep you know nine ten hours and you won't really be able to do much about it if you want them to be uh very efficient and productive then you will have to let them sleep peacefully and sleep well during that time of nine hours anyway um apart from cbd you can of course do meditation that is a very natural and positive healthy habit which does help meditating before bed if you are religious maybe uh try praying for a bit longer then you usually do try to kind of get into the peaceful harmonious mood of being close to whoever you worship and whoever whatever you believe and try to be close to it try to be in the center of it and try to let its peace absorb you and heal you from all of the worries of the day um you could do yoga because yoga is you know quite physically demanding so it would tire you out and that obviously would help you could also do exercises but that would be like i would say 4 4 6 8 hours before sleep because uh if you do it too late then actually there will be a lot of adrenaline in your body a lot of adrenaline a lot of testosterone and actually you it will be harder for you to fall asleep so yeah just a few examples here i do actually have a few other examples which i might uh share later but i do hope that uh if you haven't tried any of those yet that you will that you are going to and uh see see you in the next post i guess

For me, my whole strategy is just dosing the ever-living heck out of myself with melatonin. 10 milligrams, to be exact. Um, nothing else works, and it's kind of a dangerous dosing, but it's the only thing that works on me at the moment. And I figured since it's about nighttime here, why don't I just, like, do it? Because I'm not. So let's grab one of these. Come back over here. Pop that off. Pop this off. All right, we are ready to go. And I do take the capsules. I think that they help me the best. Capsules. And then... just pop it like a normal pill. And when my strength comes back, my strategy is for after taking it is, like, almost immediately going to lie down in bed and let the drowsiness take over. So, uh, there you go.

There are also alternative supplements, which you can try. L-Tryptophan, if anyone has a problem finding it or spelling it, I can always send them the actual spelling of it, no problem, just hit me up in private, or just search it in Google, I'm sure that you will find it. So, L-Tryptophan, you know, just kind of write it as you hear it, you know what I mean? Spell it out like that, and you should be fine. Anyway, the advantage of L-Tryptophan compared to melatonin, but that's not obviously 100% confirmed, because, you know, as I said previously, different bodies, different organisms work differently, and they don't absorb medications, supplements as... as good as others do, however, yeah, it is known from a scientific point of view, from all the studies that have been conducted so far, that L-Tryptophan is absorbed easier, easily, more easily by the system, which converts serotonin into melatonin, which obviously helps us sleep. It's more natural, more sustainable long-term, and yeah, you might want to try that. If you want... if you want to feel the full effects, that will take around four to six weeks. Some people recommend you take it on an empty stomach. I don't really know if that is necessary, because I usually don't, and it seems to be helping me to, like, stay awake, you know, throughout the night, because sometimes I would wake up at 3-4 a.m., and I don't like that, so L-Tryptophan seems to help me a lot with staying asleep until, you know, 8-9 a.m., when I... when it is I want to wake up, yeah. So...

Hi everyone, yes, I have this problem. I try to sleep in the evening but it doesn't work. My three to one days get up and I drink coffee. And after my three to get up every time, but come 18 hours or 16 hours, I go to my bed and I sleep. But I don't know what can I do, what to do, what to choose. I don't know which medicine or which therapy is.

Well, sorry for writing this, it's Landon, by the way, but, um, honestly, for me, I just, I don't really have a set strategy either, uh, regarding post-1. I, uh, I mean, I toss a turn, I guess, sometimes, and I sleep, but other than that, I don't really have a set strategy, but, yeah. And, uh, to post-1, uh, this is a good topic, so, uh, thank you.

Let the stars be your guide. Let your mind just relax. And when in doubt, meditate.

I have no problem sleeping most of the time, and sometimes I can wake up early that I wanted to sometimes, and sometimes I toss and turn like what Landon said. Sometimes I stretch before I wake up, so I have really not much else to say. So thanks for listening, and I'm out, man.

Well, I used to sleep in, but I know sleeping in, to me, it's kind of bad, so I don't sleep in much before as I used to, and trying to have a set schedule for my sleep, so, yeah, that's to summarize, most of my sleeps are good for me being occupied and have fresh airs and do stuff, so, yep, thanks again.
