Downloading from torrents does not work
Back to Computers and Technology#1 msuchy
Hello. I use Bittorent for downloading from torrents and I have problem with it. When I want to download some torrent, so there is always: "Connecting to peers 0.0 %" in status column and it doesn't change. What should I test to find the problem with downloading from torrents? Thanks, Michal.

Syncing with torrents take a while. Be patient.

I let run some torrent download for several hours and the same result: "Connecting to peers 0.0 %". Should I check something directly in Bittorrent? Or Should I check if something is blocking torrent downloads? It's weird that it started happening with all the torrents to me I wanted to download a few days ago.

I know it doesn't help your situation now, but try with uTorrent. :)

In that case there may not be any seeds currently available. Try leaving it running in case somebody connects.

Isn't the discussion of torrents and the like rather frowned upon here?

Illegal content is. The use of torrent, by itself, is not illegal. Therefore, the discussion of using torrent is perfectly fine, so long as were not linking, or refering to illegal content.

I use an old version of U torrent. I don't recoment downloading the latest version because I have heard some bad stuf about it, I don't know the details though. But the old version is a perfectly accessible, and working torrent client.

Same here, 2.2.1 I'm using for example.

I believe there's another client you can use called BitComet. It was recommended to me by a friend; it's quite accessible. Be aware, though, that BitTorrent is a peer to peer (P2P) protocol, meaning download speed/reliability is dependent on the number of other machines (seeds) that are available and the reliability of their own pipes.

Oh. Well that's me schooled then.
