I always remember the initial Elten release, when I waited for midnight to launch the portal. I would like to add that I was not such a night owl then and reaching midnight was quite a challenge. So I started Elten from bed, dropping the changed file to the FTP server from the SIC FTP program on my Nokia E52 - unforgettable ...

And that was eight years ago.

This number seems downright unbelievable, and the path we have taken from the unusable program to the entire Foundation, the mass of projects and a tool used by hundreds of people, could become a really interesting story, full of twists and turns. After all, there were many beautiful and sad moments.
Today, too, some parts sparkle like private messages, while others, like blogs, tumble to the bottom. Will things move and the blogs will come back, or are we witnessing their agony? I admit that I am looking forward to Elten's ninth birthday to see what this year will bring, because I have no doubt that it will be very important for the project.

Meanwhile, I have two announcements.

First, version 2.5 has been released. It may not be as spectacular as 2.4, but it still has a lot of news, especially for conferences.

Secondly, on the occasion of Elten birthday, only today, you can buy a sponsorship package for PLN 150.

For my part, I wish Elten to stick around as it has done so far. Because, as I wrote, it was better and worse, but probably no one expected that Elten would survive that long. Here it is!

Honestly, when I registered here, back in 2019, I've never thought I'd have such a good time here. The first time I heard about this programme was on the audiogames forum, Nuno mentioned it in a topic and it sounded very interesting to me. Since then I've met a lot of wonderful people here, and in fact, I met two of them even in person! They were Pajper and Papierek :) Since I love Poland, polish language as well as polish culture, this programme is also a very good opportunity for me to practice polish and maybe to win against my shyness and finally start talking in polish more. If elten didn't exist, now I wouldn't have such good friends with whom we still keep in contact, either here, or on other social platforms, but the most important is that we met wit the help of this platform.

Elten has certainly come a long way! I remember when I registered, 2.0 was still in beta. That could become interesting sometimes when updating from 1 to 2, it was easy to screw up things. But it certainly improved a lot, and 99 % of the bugs that annoyed me have been fixed. That remaining 1 % is the sluggishness of sapi 5 on Windows 8 and later, but that's no problem anymore, since with the NVDA addon, I really enjoy using NVDA with it. So yes, Elten existed alongside Klango, but it was good to know that there is something we could hold onto when Klango died.

And I can remember the day when I recommended Elten to you, @hozosch. Back in 2017 there was a bug which hat users who tryed to create an account let think the creation was without success, but allthough that the account has ben created.

My friend Jacob was the one who introduced me to Elton last year back in June, and I like the program! I remembered in last year's birthday, you are allowed to try all premium features for free and without restrictions for 3 days.

It also works fairly well with System Access. I know this because my older brother uses that combo at times.

System access is abandonware though.

I don't think so. I'm not even sure you can get the setup file anymore. Don't hold me to this though.
