Do you know of something, be it a song, a movie, a piece of art etc, that someone took inspiration from and upgraded the hell out of? Put it here.
I'll start
Years ago, a Scotish guy by the name of Dick Gaughan produced a song called the Workers' song. In 2005, the Dropkick Murphys came along and transformed this slow, minimalist guitar/singer song into a full-blown rock anthem, complete with a brand new melody, a fast-paced drum beat, electric guitars and bag pipes. I discovered it at the beginning of this year, and it is one hell of a track!

Well, let's not forget Disney movies. For example, the little murmade, is an old book, then Disney made it into a huge musical movie with lots of songs an Extra characters not featured in the book

If works are arts and movies, I don't ahve anything. If works are technology I have some. The iPhone made the smartphone the way that it is now. Older ones had keyboards, some still do today, but most are just touchscreens, same with the watch. The switch was used to turn something on and off but someone made a smart one. On the topic, smart speakers. Someone thought it would be a good idea to make a computer portable. There are more but I can't think of them right now.

So many of these are food. Cook plain chicken? Kind of good. Put seasonings on it? Very good. Put it with in other food? Could be the best thing to ever be sensed by your tastebuds. Potatoes, good, add things to them, awesome! Cook them until they are thin and crispy? You can make billions off of that!

Linux. The kernel was made in 1991, and now there are so many distros featuring the Linux kernel. The kernel its self has been upgraded as well.

Libre office. Open office wasn't going in a good direction, so a bunch of people forked it and made it one of the go to office programs on Linux, and there's a windows version too. Without this thing I'd be screwed right now, or I'd have to use Windows just for opening a word document or excel sheet.
