What is the hardest thing for you about being blind?

Back to General Discussion

You know there are already at least 5 deaths from Tesla's self-driving mode already?

They were tested by blind?

Not necessarily blind, but deaths all the same. I doubt these will be useful on mountains or other such rough terrain. As for me, I'll never trust self-driving cars.

djsenter, eaven with driverless vehicles, accidents are still not 100 percent prohibited. Also, this is a field that is as under development as it can be. That means that most people will be entirely sceptical of the idea because they simply arn't used to it. Imagine if a story popped up in some news organization that a blind person was controlling a driverless car, and then subsequently crashed.

Damn, I mean it's true. With all the stereotypes about us, it would be difficult. But maybe if we can get some cyborg type things which can be our personal assistants, lovers, or how ever they are programmed, then we can be guided by them, and they can drive a car.
We hav to remember how the technology is progressing, surely some lovely robots which can be customised by us fully, will see the daylight eventually.

Lol, sex robots, love robots, girlfriends loyal for ever, customisable to what ever you like, or just simple friends, companions.
Either way, they would definitely help people such as us, blind guys.

Ok, this isn't something that is hard about being blind, just one of the things about being blind. I was type testing a keyboard that came with an iPad, and they thought, just because I was typing, that I was hacking into the iPad. I'm just typing! OK?

Off the spinner, to the skinner, it chops off layers, now I'm thinner.

This even happens if you just have an iPhone with screen curtain enabled. People tell me that the phone is off and offer to help me switch it on, or think they really corrupted it when I just turn down the volume and touch the screen and nothing is visible.
Some even kiddingly say I might be doing secret stuff, like intelligence-related things, as I study Political Science and International Relations.

I have a few things to share here. I think the one I hate most is when I'm talking to someone and they ask if I've heard that movie. That makes me want to make them hear me strangling them. Another one is being told I'll never amount to anything. One I'm facing right now is the inability to get a job. Before anyone accuses me of not trying, I have. No one in this town wants anything to do with me. They have refused to listen to anything I have to say. My only source of income right now is my creative work, which, as you can imagine, doesn't bring in much. Here I go off the point again, oops. I also don't like those people who say they would kill themselves if they ever lost their vision. That's about the fastest possible way to make me very angry.

Hearing people ask me if I've heard that moovy doesn't bother me too much, although it does sound strange. Yes people can be strange sometimes. Another thing I've noticed is, when I tell someone I see, meaning I understand, then that person would come out with, so you can see now, meaning with my eyes. I don't always know how to respond to that.

An easy way to overcome this problem about movies would be by asking the question, "Have you watched this movie?" Because what difference does it make now by watchig a movie with your eyes or using discriptive movies. But many sighted people do not even know that discriptive movies are available for the blind!

There are many hard things about being blind for me. Usually, I try to overcome them and learn from them. But other times, they just bring me down, and it is hard to overcome them. I would say for me, the hardest thing about being blind is having sited friends. Sure, there are a lot of sited friends who say hi to me at school and talk to me. But most of them just never start a conversation with me, or say hi at all. I just wish some people would take the fact that all I am is blind. But I understand some just don't get it. Trust me, I have had random breakdowns about being blind because it just all comes to me. It is a hard challenge to face, but I know we all can try to succeed.

OK, sorry if I sware in this answer, or post, or what ever, but the 1 hardest thing about being blind is, say for example your playing with people online on a video game that you can't get the hang of because your blind, right? well, if your doing this, what really is hard about it is that, some people can be reall dicks and say, oh, if your blind, why are you playing this game, or oh, your stupid because your blind. and that really gets me down, not because I play the game, but because people have to be reall ass holes about it, like seriously.
