Hi. I think it would be a fantastic idea if you guys could put a way so that we can create midi files since there is a midi player add on. I love to create stuff for music and maybe there could be a way to convert midi to actual sheet music or something like that.
It would really help those of us who are big time musicians like myself.
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
yes, and qws is working for me, but you still don't get it to work?
I recently downloaded the sound font for Elten. It's pretty good. One of my files, well, at least one, plays out of tune using it but not with another one I already have.
I suppose a MIDI interface like QWS would be beyond the scope of elten.
Strange, Troubled Times...
sound fonts? What is that anyway. Is that what plays the midi files?
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
it is files with format .sf2, and it is a package with samples of midi instruments! so when you set a soundfont, it changes midi sounds. and if you want, you can make a new soundfont, but it is a damn lot of sounds. better way to create new midi sounds is to modify a soundfont
and yes, you can change elten's original soundfonts to others, but you must name it soundfont.sf2
And how do I modify a soundfont.
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
with a special software, but i don't know what software!
Oh I did notice that the midi sounds are different on elten compared to the normal windows one. Well the piano sounds better that's for sure.
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
The one that's in Windows is horrible.
Strange, Troubled Times...
yes, so a short tip. if you want to use elten's soundfont, you must install a virtual midi synth from coolsoft and load this sf2 to it. the windows gs wavetable synth is used in many midi synths and keyboards!
coolsoft? Where do I find it.
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
i will attach it, oh sorry i am not a premium user! i will send a link to you!
OK
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
Strange, Troubled Times...
What do I do after I install this thing.
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
run it and press add, and it will ask for file name. choose your soundfont and press ok. press ok again and it will close! then just set virtual midi synth as a midi output
really, isn't it offtopic? i of course answered your questions but lets make a topic about midi somewhere. here is not good place to discuss, i guess.
I think what would be good is to have the ability to play midi keyboards by using Elten. So you know how there is a list of extra programs for Elten in the programs menu? Klango used to have something like that. I think it would be nice if this program would work with a midi controler to make things a lot more easier.
sincerely, Jacob Way-White,
