Wow, this is absolutely amazing! So glad you posted this here, because it seems you forgot to attach it in the mail you sent me, or it didn't come through for some other reason.
Thanks... You will receive a link instead because I did realize it was not sent and am now uploading it to fileconvoy.com so that I can know whether and when it is actually uploaded.
As for the samples, I know you can load wav files into reaper and play music with them, for example to make Windows remixes. So wouldn't you be able to load those Kanun samples you used before into reaper somehow?
Um, I actually like that song, but it would have been cool if you added, um, if you made
a metal version, actually.
If you know what metal music is.
If not, I'll attach something.
Learning to use Reaper is a very long process, even the most professional music composers can learn something new every day. And looping something for an insanely long time isn't that difficult BTW. Due to this fact, I consider the statement "I've learned reaper so quick" a little too strong. On the other hand, the song is good, although it doesn't sound remade at all, just more instruments added. Keep in mind unnecessary personal attacks aren't tolerated here. If you'd like to fight, I'd like to gently ask you to go somewhere else. :)
I never said I've mastered Reaper already. The learning curve is quite steep and I do know that as I have been also using GoldWave for nearly a decade and even translated it into Turkish, but I can perform several tasks in Reaper and this currently suffices for me to make decent tracks. I did that in such a short time and now I will brag about that because the moderator doesn't deserve to be treated normally and I don't really care about being humble against her. Since defending myself against her attacks and having to explain everything multiple times didn't work, I will never tolerate any injustice committed by her and respond to everything she does while she shamelessly warns others to not do those things. And then she calls what I do fighting... I just said I would brag about my quick progress but why would I do that when she said I was a narcissist all the time, and looked for every opportunity to make everyone believe that I had severe psychological problems? You should conclude even solely from this very post of mine that I do know what the words "humble", "arrogant", "brag" and "narcissist" mean. But I highly doubt that she knows what a loop is. It is already just repeat the same thing that you do when you make a loop but each repeated thing took me a considerable amount of time and effort to complete, due partly to the fact that I don't have a MIDI keyboard. One more thing: The obvious fact remains that the moderator did respond to me and this should mean she did read my message. So she should also know about the track but she said nothing about it as she had nothing negative to claim. Because she never misses the tinyest opportunity to attempt to discredit my stuff and she would definitely do that as she always does. But she is utterly silent when it comes to having to admit that my tracks are better than those of hers that she makes on her MIDI keyboard. And if she attempts to discredit my tracks, she knows very well that I will strongly object to that as it was non other than herself who told me that I shouldn't criticize anyone if I was weaker than him/her in that respect.
Matt, I know what metal music is but am not sure I can make such a version. I will focus primarily on improving that qanun and/or finding more Turkish instruments to enrich the current version. But I noted that suggestion and will see if I can do it.
Matt, I have good samples but in the form of MIDI soundfonts and I can use QWS to make that thing but I want to use Reaper only, for a particular reason. So I need a VST plug-in to let me play the electric guitar, an accessible version of BassMIDI to use my soundfonts in Reaper, or a tutorial that teaches me how to use Reaper's own sampler. And this last one is currently being downloaded.
Anyway, back to topic... I did manage to have the qanun be played with samples but it's far from being perfectly realistic. I will also need to tweak and reposition the notes to sound better with that new set of samples.
Here's another set of samples. The notes sound good when played individually but it becomes unrealistic when they're repeated rapidly. I should probably try trimming the beginning of each note where the strings are plucked. And this qanun somehow masks the other instruments. But when I lower its volume then the qanun itself is not heard clearly.
I like the samples in post 588 better, but yes, the rapid repeating needs to be worked on. How did you do this when you were coding with BGT? Was this a separate sample that made it sound so realistic, or how did this work?
No, I imported the samples into the Reaper track. This time I didn't use the BGT thing and that's better in one way because I can pick whatever set of samples I like, as opposed to the BGT thing that has a sounds.dat file so I have to pack the samples each time I want to change them. Okay, I was lazy to add a few more lines of code that would let me do that with the up and down arrow keys, or by entering the instrument name or number that I would like to select, as in the other app I made that has multiple instruments including the clarinet and violin. So why is the qanun and only the qanun separate, you may ask. Because it differs from the others in some ways and I just didn't want to complicate stuff further by trying to gather all the stuff in one single piece of code. And another thing is, as we discussed earlier, BGT does not really do a good job of stopping the sounds when the keys are released, but Reaper has several parameters that let you control how the samples play and how they stop. These are referred to as ADSR in short, and include attack, release, decay and sustain. But one thing that the BGT applet does have is quartertone support and I should work on some way to implement that for Reaper tracks, if possible, by adjusting the pitch of every sample or tuning them individually. Well, at least for future ones, as I don't need that for the loop I posted.
You will find a link in post 573. The other samples I've got from various sources including piyanistset.com and keyfimuzik.net. And I'm now trying to attach a set of samples to this very post. The archive may be password-protected. In this case, the password should be piyanistset.com.
