@98, wow, detective! You figured out something that the devs themselves are very open about! We aught to give you a commission in the Special Service!
This is from the post that introduces it on the audiogames.net forum.
"Me and a couple of my friends have been working on a COD Zombies inspired audio game called Final Hour."
The topic title itself is
"Final Hour, a COD Zombies inspired FPS, open for beta testers"
But here's the thing. Who gives a fuck if it's based on COD? Tell me, can you go out and play the regular COD Zombies mode now? Surely not. This is why they came in with FH because right now an accessible version of COD Zombies doesn't exist. Concept clones are fine especially when there are no versions available to us. Stop complaining about devs who actually try making something.
All that I survey, I could easily destroy. From time to time, it is important to remind these small creatures of the true extent of my power.

okay cool, nice that they think fucking everyone uses audio games.net. My goodness sorry but is there something else? And bruh, why would I want to play a game which steals sounds and has no more content? Like, uh great, then I have fun and think its cool or what? Its not going to replace the actual game anyways. Okay meh, but then don't go around and shout uh I am so good in python uh the hype hype hype!

#103

also, for what multiplayer even if you just fight against cloned weird sounds, aehm, I mean zombies?

#104 Edytowano

@102, you sound just a touch bit bitter. Jealous, perhaps? Also, if they chose to make the audiogames.net forum their platform of choice to announce their game that's their choice. Nobody takes Elten seriously. Nobody. It's just a glorified joke and even then, the community on here is small. For as much as people like shit talking the forum it's the most popular. Imagine even people banned from the forum signed up for their beta. It's their choice where they choose to advertise.

Then use your website? This whole audio games.net is so overrated and like 2010. But anyways, enjoy, if you're having no standards for your game/games you play thats not my problem.

#106

No no, I mean the link from sedi. Someone asked for a download link because they have lost it and then he sent one.

Which link? Do you mean first post? Its just saying not found.

We are devs who try to make something too. From our own sounds and added concepts. It's also a tiny bit enspired from ROTU of course. But there's a difference between just throing in mainstream sounds into an audio game to make it COD, enspired, and actually making a concept clone. Also sorry for your anger here right now or something. Ps I don't even have a quite working account on overrated ag.net which I check like what, once every 3 months or?

From their website:
Final Hour is a complex, innovative audiogame that attempts to bring the experience of sighted and blind gamers closer together. Inspired by the Call of Duty Zombies franchise, we hope that the mainstream concepts will transport the blind gaming experience further from the limitting and unwieldy gameplay of current audiogames and closer to mainstream’s practicality.

Hey there, one of the devs here. Just a few clarifications for myself here, when did we say we were good at python? Also, what's your definition of content, because according to your description of the game its an audiofile collection.
Also, FH is a passion project we do for fun, sure there were mistakes in the way we started the beta, but we needed players to test stuff, but we were no where near ready for a public beta, some of the stuff planned would not be helped by lots of players hounding us at once.

We made FH as a project because we wanted the COD zombies experience, sure its not perfect, and sure its no where as high quality as the actual COD games, but the sounds were part of the experience we were looking for, so understandably we added them. Because of this, we don't expect people to play, in fact we don't expect people to play at all. We put out the beta testing form for a few players expecting like 20, not 160.

This sounds harsh, but i don't think you understand how co-op gaming works. You work with other people to kill things.

Something i do wonder, (in general). Whenever A dev attempts to make something (since everybody is bagging for an audio game), all there is is negative criticism. And don't get me wron, criticism is good, but only till a certain point. And no, i don't mean clones, I mean the work in general. Wish we blindies could just be aA little bit more thankfull that there are a few people out there who are attempting and willing to make something that's playable.
Not replying on anybody specifically, but just wondering.
Oh and offcourse, stealing sounds isn't cool, but (at least in my oppinion), there is kind of a difference between picking some sounds from a huge ass company that will get there money anyhow, then stealing souns from a single dev or a small team.

#113

Yes. There's a difference between constructive criticism and mindlessly bashing. I mean we have someone bashing the FH dev team based on nothing that they actually did, only something they made up

There you have a point broh. Though imagine you are big poppular sound designer one day, might your viewpoint change? I mean just cuz it's part of a big company never excuses it. There might be a few dudes sitting there and they'd be real disappointed if they knew. Or it's just my opinion. To come back to COD ahem fh though. If putting out lots of beta applications and being hyped about it though, why expecting nobody to play? Or at least create an own soundpack? I mean imagine if everyone would start like this. Then you could basically call it COD audio edition. Final hour sounds like a game you worked hard for yourself, not just with 2 years of coding, but also concept and sound making. Or world of warcraft or anything else like that. Should one make a game like this, just call it idk, realm of war or something Lol, and no I came up with that randomly, then put WOW sounds in it and done it's my game? I mean it shouldn't work like that tbh how i see it. Either ways, appreciate your calm answers here much, thanks.

@114 that's certainly true. But imo, yeah idk ,they don't know, and they get paid to make those sounds, and done they are. Little devs or dev teams have to do it all on there own, pay for sounds etcetera.

I'm sorry but most people don't take the audiogames forum seriously either. In the community I'm in at most of the time, it's even some kind of a meme. Just FYI there are around 200 people in there.

actually, our desired place for advertising was mastodon, but we didn't get much traction there. We were encouraged to post to the forum.

I'm not bashing them but mindlessly accepting strange kids as betatesters while ignoring experienced gamers is not cool, really. Plus very suspicious that everyone with an email address from russian providers were ignored. Hmmm... I don't want to go into conspiracy theories but isn't a bit... Strange?
