Yesterday, something really strange happened to me. I found the CerePlay app on the appstore. I was really excited and downloaded it. After that I bought the german Gudrun, but now I'm unable to install. When I pres install, nothing hapens. No the ap is removed from the App store. Was this a scam?
#509 marchoffmann
What is this supposed to be for an app? Heh.

I'm not sure if that still gets only updates to kep it sure for the newest NVDA versions so that nobody has make the really hard stepps to kep it anyways or if it really gets updates. and even if yes, I heard no differenz between the eloquence I was using back then 2021 or 2022 and the eloquence I'm using now. hmm.

No difference if you update your IBMTTS add-on. It just updates so that the newer version of NVDA will be compatible.

Why Eloquence and dectalk are Discontinued in the early 2000s? I use both of them. Just wondering
#513 blazy-enterprises
because they were bought out by other companys that didn't want to continue making them.
#514 GeorgeWu
Like who for example?
#515 marchoffmann
Nuance?
#516 blazy-enterprises
first, eloquence got bought out by speech works in 2000, and then in 2003, they got bought out by scansoft and they quit making it, as for dectalk, they got bought out by speech fx in 2000 when they added more languages and the voices started to sound like shit, and then scansoft bought them out in 2005
#517 GeorgeWu
Thanks for the informations.
And I'm not sure if nuance has the rights to sell eloquence because they are not the original owner.
#518 blazy-enterprises
scansoft turned into nuance, and they don't cell any of the discontinued products such as eloquence, keynote gold, speechify, realspeak, text assist, ETC.

When was the La Quinta and vocalizer voices was released? I first heard the voice Dave back in 2012 when I was listening to some News CD.
I first heard all the vocalizer voices from a Mac and my first ipod which is an ipod 4. I heard it on ios 9 afterwards.
#520 blazy-enterprises
the vocalizer voices oridginated from lernout and hospy speechify, voices like tom, jill, and jenefer, along with other voices we don't have such as crage and dana, and then speechworks bought out learnout and hospy in 2000, and then scansoft bought speechworks in 2001, then nuance had plans to buy them out in 32004 when was when they made the samantha voice and other voices for other languages, 2006 comes along, and nuance buys out scansoft, as for loquendo, they started out as an italion only speech synthesyser in 1994, in fact, loquendo in englesh means talk about, then 2002 comes along, and they add other languages and voices suchas dave. 2012 comes along, and nuance buys out loquendo, and they port over some loquendo voices to vocalizer, such as alison, susan, diego, fransisca, carlos, ioana, kryzzstof, zosia, leila, tarik, magnus, and some others.
