Elten's future plans

Hi all.
On behalf of Dawid (Pajper) I'm informing about what has been planned for Elten. As it looks, elten's program code is an organized bumsight, to put it in the words of a good friend of mine. So, there are some plans for cleaning the code up. One of them is rewriting the server to use Rubi and JSON only, which should reduce work time on the server and makes it easier to implement new features and other things. Then of course, we are all eagerly awaiting elten2.3, aren't we? Currently, he's working on the support for groups, and plans to release the first beta containing this feature in June. We can expect the final version to be out in august. In 2020, the main area is going to be Elten 3.0 and the mobile versions of the program.

Well, great plans! If the code will be cleaned up and the server be rewritten, this will perhaps make it possible for me to have access to the media catalog. Looking forward to it

In the next Elten version coming up, 2.34, you are able to actually call users! Yes, like you would do on skype. I think that's very cool. I know that because I'm translating Elten to German, and we get the prompts in advance. Some may argue that, if you have skype, why do you need Elten? Well firstly, skype is more complicated than it needs to be, and also, maybe the audio quality is better, who knows? The simple interface is probably the most noticeable thing in this. GW connect was really good in that regard.

Wow wee! And I've really never had problems with Skype, except for that period of time they didn't have global hotkeys.

That will be interesting to see on Elten though.

Yeh, that will be fantastic! That's something we didn't have when Klango was still around despite the fact that Skype was already existing then.

this is gonna get awesome if it really works as great as elten does in general, hope this comes out soon.

One small change, audio calls will be introduced in Elten 2.35, not in Elten 2.34 as it was planned before.

Oh well, we'll wait then a little bit longer for this.

but the 2.3.5 just arived, the calling feature is still not there.

I can confirm that initial works on Elten audio-calling protocol have just been completed and the server is running. :)
Now it's the time for client implementation. I hope that this function will be released within Elten 2.3.6, in the second half of November. :)

What about the media catalog; is it coming back next year?

Currently I am not planning to reintroduce.
It was proposed to use open Radio database and implement "Favourites" option or to make integration with Spotify, but it is not in the nearest plans.
