As I'm sure your already aware at this point, there a lot of different GPS apps. Which one do you use while your navigating? For me I use VoiceVista (or rather soundscape revived) although I've also tested blindsquare as well.
Voice Vista, Apple Maps, and as of recently, my own called Locatification, which announces when you arrive at a set destination/coordinates, which is useful when public transport has no announcements etc.
But to be honest, Apple Maps is fine most of the times, I don't get a lot by all the verbosity of Voice Vista and such. The ideas and concepts are nice, but idk, to annoying to actually use on a daily bases.

I mean there is a way that you can tern off the callouts so that it stops calling out nearby areas.

I was part of the Tiera development, but I guess you all know what happened to that, so I no longer use that. Back to Soundscape Community.

Oh. o what happened to tiera? I've installed it wishing to actually try it :) oh. and on android for example, I heart that lazarilo is very good, but never tried myself.
I did try that one on the iPhone as well, its not just on android. Although android lacks GPS's so you basically have lazarillo, google maps, wase?? And all the rest of them (correct me if I'm wrong)
Tiera was also on Android, but only in Beta for now. We had no way to keep the company going (server costs, funding, etc) and had to shut down. The app will be removed from the stores in the coming weeks. So it was a project that started great and then slowly lost its money. I can keep you updated when something changes since there are plans to work together with another company and build the app with them. I guess we get more information in September.

Thanks to this app I started walking with navigation. The first one that did not irritate me, because it does not idiotically give messages based on clock hours, only on directions. When I heard for example turn to 5, I did not know which 5 and relative to what. Here I have clarity. I turn on the compass and walk.

I don't get what's the point of clock face navigation either, I'm also use to cardinal directions too.

It's so weird you guys don't know the clock. Like WTF... I'm not trying to bully you or anything but that's literally the first thing you are taught at school.

I know how the clock works and how to check manual clock, but in navigation i don't have an reference point. Manual clock is smaller than the 4 sides of world.
The problem is that when a GPS tells me "turn to 5 o'clock," I don't have a clear reference point for where 12 o'clock is at that moment. I also struggle to mentally visualize angles and distances from those kinds of instructions. Cardinal directions or simple left/right instructions are much more intuitive for me.
The same think if someone tells me, cut it at 2 meters. But how the heck am i supposed to know how long 2 meters is? If you don't give me a tape measure i will cut it bad, based on the thought that it's long, so maybe it's 2 meters.

Do sighted people use this kind of clock navigation? Hell no, and it's strange as fuck. Why not conform to the standards of everyone else?
yeah because it's easier to just turn left or right and take the 3rd exit for example

And how would it look the same as it does for a sighted person, since they can always glance at the map to see where they are, how the road is drawn, and so on? The route isn’t just a series of dots scattered across the phone screen, like in navigation apps for the blind. They have lines leading from one dot to the next, with markers indicating their positions moving along those lines, and so on.

Seeing Assistant Go, I don't really have much experience with others, but it saved me many times and helped me visit places alone, which I wouldn't probably able to navigate to very well by myself.
It can track locations, objects, I can save my custom locations as well. What's there not to love? :)

Thank ye all for the ideas. I needed more advise now Laserillo is no longer in development for long.
I find it crazy that there are clones of soundscape with are soundscape community and, uh, another soundscape clone. But voicevista has more features added regularly
