⚠️ TW. progressive hearing loss on top of blindness — how do you cope?

General Discussion

Fortunately I have better things to do than to care about the forum. It's just a place on which you generally don't ask such things because people aren't intelligent enough to give you a proper answer, that is what I'm saying. What happens there apart from releases, doesn't interest me anymore. I've come to the conclusion that it's useless to interact with people who have no idea about what's happening outside of their room. In return though, these people will also never know about accessibility projects I participate in, since it's the evil Destranis after all

And all that has a lot to do with the topic of hearing loss, no? Some people are sensible, some aren't. Like everywhere else.

and also sometimes, I want to stop doing some hobbies and cut certain people off early so I can be prepared for if I lose all of it and I can't talk to them or do these hobbies anymore

Sorry but, stop that bs.
Ain't bringing your life and the people around you more than depression. Stop it when you don't have a choice. This stuff is purely based on maybe, what if. I can't stop playing music just because who knows, maybe my hearing will actually start to worsen too, or because who knows maybe in 20 years I'll be in a wheelchair not being able to press the pedal.

well, I don't think anyone can tell, and its all internal, but I do think about it sometimes

Khalil, that is like saying I won't drive my car, because I might crash it in an accident. I understand it is difficult and the thought of what might happen in the future is scary, but it's not that serious, really. There are ways.

Yup. What I said.
It's totaly ok to wonder about it sometimes, but this has not more control over you right now than you give it, which does seem like a lot.
If you have hobbies bro, act on them! Not everyone has hobbies nowadays that make them happy.
You basically remove your joy from life just because of the unknown. It'll ruin you longterm, bro.

it will I know, but idk. i guess this was my brains way of saveing myself from the pane when I find out I cant do these things anymore

That is not saving yourself, because you're ultimately going to feel guilty, ashamed, like you're wasting your life and you don't even know how you're going to cope when it comes and what sort of technology or medicine will be available to help you.

@21, we'll see how well this posts ages.
All that I survey, I could easily destroy. From time to time, it is important to remind these small creatures of the true extent of my power.
