So why noone have expectation like this for Microsoft? Their projects are developed over the years and official releases sometimes are more fucked up than this Elten beta.

Let me be clear. I think Arctic Moon is being unreasonable here, but comparing this to Microsoft is dumb on so many levels.
First of all, no, no. Microsoft, while it has problems from time to time, is doesn't suffer from basic functionality fucking up. Microsoft word works. EXCELL works. Windows works. ETC, etc, etc. And, if there are bugs, it's usually patched within a week.
Second of all, the expectations for Microsoft absolutely are that high. Have you not seen the commentary around Microsoft of recent?

Microsoft also does suffer from basic functionality fucking up in dead. The difference is though, at least for me, we have just given up on microsoft as a whole. Like at this point I don't expect anything but fuckups from them.
Still though this is a one man project here, and the is developed for 8 years now argument doesn't hold any value as keyboard mapping was completely rewritten in last beta.

For me, the most idiotic argument in this discussion is that you have any expectations for beta version. Joining to betatesters is voluntary, and more stupid things can happen there, because Pajper revriting a lot of things there.
MS doesn't have problems with basic functionality? Remind yourself of Word from previous years, which worked so terribly on older weak computers. Before you managed to read what you wrote, or when you wanted to quickly make corrections, everything would freeze. Look at the new Notepad in Win11.
I think you don't understand what a beta is. I recommend reading the definition on Google first and then writing nonsense posts and expectations.

Yup, I feel like a lot of people actually do not know what a beta is anymore. Just because it's public doesn't mean it's for everyone.

No, I agree that her expectations are high and silly but the comparison to MS was more so.
Honestly my expectations about her commentary are usually lower than my expectations of a beta, so her saying something like that barely registered on my radar.

Personally, i love testing things in beta but not when they are at their enfancy. There's a reason why I am not on Discord Canary. I tried Elten beta, but I realized that I could use waiting sometime till it is more stable so that I can be better at reporting what I see, while being able to do daily things normally. I learned it from AMinile, Don't use beta if you aren't comfortable.

Wow, it's finally happening! I can't believe it! Elten 3.0 is here, even though it's still in beta, but hey! And I'm actually a user on ARM now, and Elten 2 was a pain to use, but this one is really smooth. I also updated the translation by the way, so please include it in upcoming betas. There are some things I would like to be improved though, at latest when Elten 3.0 becomes stable:
1. Bassmidi should be updated. The release number may not be different from what you use now, but Bassmidi now has a feature that I requested in the Bass forum, namely processing "bulk tuning dump" sysex, so microtonal midi files can be played properly if they have a sysex track. I tried replacing bassmidi.dll, but of course, that doesn't pass the integrity check, so updating must be done on your part.
2. Slow response in file manager when changing balance, Playback pitch, etc.
3. Sapi5 support. On Windows versions newer than 7, it lags very badly, so the implementation should be modernized. I thought this would be squished with the new engine, but apparently it's not. I have no idea how you would do it, but it would be cool. Also, in the current Beta of Elten 3, when you select a voice, the wrong voice will load, meaning the voice's name shown in the list is not the one that's actually heard. Due to the lag with Sapi5, I prefer to use NVDA anyway, but if you could improve those things, that would be great. Other than that, all seems to be fine. Ah no, wait, there is a fourth point I just remembered.
4. Accessing the forum as a guest. In Elten 2, it was at least possible to view the forums and topics as a guest. This no longer works, it just says "error", and the list of forums is empty. You just see recommended groups, etc, but they won't show, because it can't load the list. It only works if you are actually logged in as a user.
Ok, that's it, keep up the great work! If the climate in here weren't so tense, and instead returned to the way it was in, say, 2017, I would be more than happy with this. The Elten program itself just rocks.

And another thing, do you really use the same string both for checking / unchecking checkboxes and selecting / unselecting (marking) of items? This is not a good idea, because, at least in German, different words would be used for the actions. That's another thing I think is worth considering.

And holding down f5 / f6 to change sound theme volume quickly would be nice too. That currently doesn't work, you can only press them repeatedly.

you know? We have been bashing Pajper for too long, (although I don't do it much) but yeah I do have the sapi5 bug where when using a sapi5 voice on elten that NVDA only talks for a milisecond

Anyway, me again, regarding date formats. Is there a way to set that, or will this be coming? I've seen strings for that in the translation, but they're optimized for English I guess. Of course, we have our completely numeric date formats, and you can mess with these however you want. But wehn it comes to alphanumeric formats, in Germany, we have only one, which is "dd. monthname yyyy.

And I'm missing the Klango archive.

Same. One of my friends told me he used to be on klango years ago, when I told him Elten for Mac exists, I'd love to see if I can find his posts lol.

You can install programs from a file, so maybe I can retrieve the Klango archive from Elten 2 and try to install it?
