Ah, the job and career card again. We're kinda spinning in a circle yk? Who do you target with these again? Charlie and I do have a job lol.

I'm not even trying to argue anymore. These are the same blind folks who go on facebook / x / mastodon and cry because they don't have proper jobs and noone wants to accept them. I wonder why.

Ok, define your interpretation of subjective, because right now you're just using some weak, personall/attack type claims without knowing the people you are addressing. To make things easier, I will give you my definition of subjective. It is looking at something from our own, personal perspective, based on our experiences, which don't need to be equal to the experiences of others, which in this case means that just because you have talked to people or browsed parts of reddits where this is a problem, it doesn't mean others had to experience te same thing, even if they have also used internet, including Reddit.
Plus as an admin, your way of conducting yourself towards members of you forum presents itself rather poorly, but that's also, my subjective view on the situation :D

LOL Always pulling out that card when you have nothing else to say is weaker than anything he ever could have said.

Arn't you? You keep coming back to this, saying the same.

Turns out we won't convince each other, but the discussion itself was interesting, as it evokes quite strong emotions in the community it seems.

@81 lol don't try justifying yourself to her.
She's reading from the same old tired dusty playbook infested with bookworms and maggots.
Makes a point, has her argument separated into its constituent parts which consists of nothing, little to nothing, and absolutely nothing. She then has her face gently brushed with eggs and in order to save what little of her face not covered by the cousin of the little bugger that went into my chicken nuggies earlier, she leaps to ad hominem attacks. Even if her point was exposed for being a bag of hot air, to quote a Trinidadian Minister, surely she could pick up a couple brownie points with herself for being so based and showin them youngans what for.
Doesn't matter if the attacks are absolutely absurd or literally based on nothing, at least she tried. Maybe it sticks, or, at least, she can pretend like it did. And, she can feel better about (hopefully) making the other guy feel worse about themselves.
I can already hear the cries of, "An adequate adult shouldn't be writing such things :)", but I'm utterly fed up with this nonsense of hers and it needs to be called out.
It's not cute. It's not funny. It's not informative, and it's helping nobody. You're not making yourself look better in the eyes of anyone, other than your friends, who, based on your public outbursts on here, end up having issues with you after a while for some reason (I have no idea why).
I think the best move forward, for everyone going forward, is to ignore her whenever she has her next outburst. Don't give her that satisfaction. Perhaps, maybe, that old playbook finally crumbles into dust?

@82, No, the statements/arguments I made in here can't be subjective because these are observable facts. The subreddits I talked about are some of the most popular in the world, meaning that the people who frequent them are more representative of the internet as a whole, rather than a specialised or obscure sect of the internet. People have been writing about the decline of English skills for years, and even in pop culture poor grammar and spelling are portrayed as hallmarks of Internet culture.
As for my conduct as an admin?
Hawk Tuah.
Other than post 86 none of my posts had anything aggressive or attacking, as you put it. I'd expect you to be more of an expert about improper moderation conduct given your vast experience in that area :)

Never said you're being aggressive, but if you don't understand then I don't feel the need to explain lol. Just go back to read the end of 75 and see how ridiculous it sounds.

I just... Have no words left at this point. Miserable.

That didn't surprise me somehow. As I said, job is basically the only weak argument you can bring up. But generally, somehow this entire discussion kinda speaks for itself I feel like. We don't even have to defend or find more arguments.

There's also something to be said for the fact that a lot of people just come on here to hang out and shit post. I find it kind of unfair to use most people's writings on here as a catch all for everything they've ever written in their lives. Personally, I am well aware that my English spelling is atrocious. It's my third language and many people've criticized me for it in the passed. But yet, whenever I'm writing something I put actual dedication and effert into and I struggle, (Boom! "Hey smart speaker over there... How do you spell antidisestablishmentarianism?"). We live in the day and age where one's spelling competency relies less on the amount of prior knowledge you have with English's famously complicated phonetics, but more so the amount of effert and dedication you have for whatever it is that you're writing. Use your resources people.

Competencey? More like competency, or just plain competence.

Starchild, believe me, your spelling is waaaay better than you think. Or at least there are much worse examples her. And if you ask me, it's a bit scary to see that the majority of the people here say it's not important enough to learn or develop further.
To be honest, when I meet someone for the first time, I just look at their spelling and clearly understand if I have anything to do with the person. If you don't care even about elementary things, we'll have a hard time communicating.

-- (Sir-Charlie):
Despite this being called the English Community the vast majority of the people who actively engage aren't native English speakers. Off the top of my head, the only people who fall into that category are myself, Charles, George, Landon, Matt Curtis, Kezz and Fernando occasionally. I may have forgotten some but those are the major people.
In fact, hitherto Alex taking over as Administrator in October of last year, the forum had never been ran by a native English speaker. Arctic Moon, Dash, Railway, Pajper, and I believe Jacob as well were all non-natives. I think Jacob's native language is French, but I could be wrong.
Anyways, there's nothing wrong with that. Despite the Britisher's being one of the most successful at spreading themselves throughout the world, the Anglosphere is still overwelmed. I think there are only like 3 quarters of a billion native English speakers, half of those are Americans.
Anyways, I like rambling before I actually get to my meat and potaters, so here you go.
Y'all have an incredibly strange addiction to correcting spelling and grammar despite not speaking English natively. In fact, I've seen situations where y'all do it while also making a mistake in the same message. I get it. Some people like to have it pointed out so they can improve but the way y'all do it is like some kind of bizarre flex.
It's not cool or funny, it just makes you look like an ass, especially when you make really simple and, by your own logic, laughable mistakes yourself.
If you want to point out someone's mistakes, that's cool, but it doesn't give you brownie points for including the correction in a message where you're essentially calling someone dumb.
P.S. I posted this opinion as just me. This isn't official staff policy unless it definitely crosses the line into personal attack territory.
It's just something I've noticed for years now and thought I'd bring it up.
